Gotta' love people who decide they are the "spokesperson" for their entire generation. Probably not even old enough to sneak into an R rated movie yet! ;)

And if the originals aren't "awesome" why did they make Lucas so rich?

Ha ha ha this is so terrible, it is not even funny!  Luca$ is a hack, and he simply got lucky with the OT due to budget and time constraints...his "failures" then ended up being great movies simply because he wasn't involved that much and couldn't meddle with things too much.  Now that he can, we see how much talent and skill he REALLY has!

I can't wait until the next release, where we learn that the story was off a little bit and Darth and Luke are actually brothers, and Howard the Duck is their father...and then we will get to hear Luca$ telling us that this is what he REALLY meant all along, but he couldn't quite finish the story because of the "technology at the time"...

I will never, EVER buy anything else SW-related again (and for the record, I haven't in over a decade now) until the OOT is restored properly...period.  And I know that day will most likely never come, so I know that I will be spending my money on bigger and better things, and supporting ARTISTS who treat their work and in many ways more importantly, their FANS, with the respect they deserve!

FU, George Luca$!  Thanks for ruining pieces of film making history!  But hey, I will be able to sleep at night knowing that the next chicken wing you are stuffing into your face was not purchased with my dollar!  Just give the fans and the people who made you who you are today what we want, and all will be forgiven.  Until then, forget you...

Not something new for you guys but its nice that gets more publicity

read George Lucas’ passionate words against George Lucas.

"A copyright is held in trust by its owner until it ultimately reverts to public domain. American works of art belong to the American public; they are part of our cultural history.

People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians, and if the laws of the United States continue to condone this behavior, history will surely classify us as a barbaric society."

Someone tweet this to his "know all" daughter. It's not an attack.  it simply says 'these words are from you father's own mouth, so you cannot dispute them'. Then watch he retort with something bratty.

I guarantee you George and his minions are wracking their brains trying to think of a way to CGI out the incest themes from the films.

I'm not sure why I care so much, but Katie Lucas seems to be getting much more civil. Good for her.

People like Katie Lucas are the reason why Facebook and Twitter are a joke, and they don't understand how to use these social sites to their advantage.

I am on Twitter and Facebook and I actually use it to get breaking news information rather then announcing I am taking a shit after dinner tonight like many people do.

I read Katie's Tweets and its typical like many of my friends who post meaningless shit that nobody cares about.  She has stuff like, "What should I do for dinner tonight?"  "I am going out with friends."  or "Just sittin at home and watchin a movie."  NOBODY CARES!!!!

I have never posted anything on Facebook or Twitter about what I am doing for dinner.  For twitter, I follow many news channels, reporters, etc who break information quicker then even many websites about stuff I'm interested in.

She uses Twitter like 90% of the people I know for trivial shit that is a waste of time, so of course she is going to get idiots posting on her twitter board wishing death to her father.  I am not condoning their behavior towards her, but she doesn't use Twitter the right way, and she ends up getting in arguments with people she don't even know about her dads movies.

Someone hold me back from jumping out a window.  I dare you to check out the official SW Facebook page.  Here's one post:

Why are some of you guys mad about the original trilogy being editted? I mean, it's not like they were so awesome or anything... I personally prefer the new trilogy, since they're newer and have more action in them, and i'd like the originals to be reeditted and made just as awesome. I've watched the uneditted versions of the originals, and frankly i didn't like them at all, but maybe that's cuz my generation don't like movies that were made in the 70s.

They're not joking. -_-

Yeah, the prequels are awesome, and it's not like all that awesome action in the prequels, like a chase in an asteroid field, Obi-Wan cutting someone's arm at a bar, the star destroyers, the set were Dooku is holding Palpatine in ROTS, the speeder bikes, etc, were all ripped off the OT... Oh... wait...

On another subject, I'm kinda amused by the reaction to the blu-rays, while the NOOOOOOOO!!! is indeed a horrible change and ruins the scene (and I swear it has to be George giving us the finger, why else would he add the most ridiculised moment of the prequels?), the movie was ruined long ago, it's no worse than Hayden's ghost. Or Boba's voice in Empire. It's strange that for some reason this is the last straw for some people.

I did not plan to buy the blu-ray set before I knew of rocky R2, blinking Wicket and yelling Vader. Not sure why anyone can be surprised the movies have been ruined some more. As I said in another post I'm surprised there aren't more changes and also a bit surprised at what he did change.

I turned on my tv today and saw this:

DR. PHIL WITH GUESTS GEORGE LUCAS AND OT FANS

(middle of broadcast)
Dr. Phil:  Now George you wanted to say something.

Lucas:  These are my films, I wrote them, I directed them, its one story and I believe that if I need to make changes I should do so.

OT Fan: But the changes are terrible.

Lucas: They're not…

Dr. Phil: Now let him speak let him speak!

OT Fan: We love these films when they first came out, they were amazing, we just want to be able to see the original films in the best 1080p BluRay quality possible

(audience applause)

Lucas: Nobody would buy them

Dr. Phil: Wait what was that?

Lucas:  We released them on dvd in 2006 and nobody bought them

OT Fan: We all bought them!

Dr, Phil: Now hold on now hold on now, your saying nobody has bought a Star Wars DVD since 2006?

(Lucas silent)

Dr. Phil: Where I'm from that dog don't hunt!

OT fan: Why is it Fast Times at Ridgement High can be restored to BluRay but not the original Star Wars its ridiculous!

Dr. Phil: Now in the audience today is Lucas's daughter Katie who now writes for one of the Star Wars shows, Katie what do you think of all this?

Katie: I think anyone who doesn't like my dad's vision and his changes to make the saga better can go suck it!  You guys can go f*ck yourselves

Ot Fan: Thats not helping!

(The OT fans and Katie are now yelling back and forth, Katie is heavily bleeped yelling F*ck you at the top of her lungs)

Dr. Phil: oh geese

Lucas chuckles: Thats my daughter.

Dr. Phil: I'd say she joined the dark side

Lucas chuckles

Dr. Phil: Now George you know what a narcissist is?  Its someone who thinks only of themselves and I"m sensing that here, now we have some counselors backstage….

George Lucas: Don't lecture me OT fans, I see through the lies of OT.com. I do not fear the CGI as you do. I have brought rocks, dugs, blinking ewoks and NOOOOO!!! to my new trilogy!

OT.com: Your new trilogy? George our allegiance is to the original trilogy, to film preservation!

Has anyone said anything constructive to Katie?

Or is has it just been at the "Go die in a fire, George" level?

I would not be surprised to see a Katie Lucas helmed sequel trilogy by the time my wrinkles are wearing dentures.

That way all the films can be fiddled with again to keep them under the Lucas umbrella.

No, it's because the new generation has no taste.

Hollywood executives, producers etc are responsible for this.

The new generation likes only shit because since its birth it eats only shit

Might be time for a new Wookie Groomer split screen!

I was thinking this same thing!  It would be great to see all the different versions on 1 screen. theatrical, 97 04 11.  Sort of like Uncanny Antman's Blade Runner disc.

I simply don't believe this.  While it may be true that many kids don't like older movies, that's just natural.  As people get older their tastes tend to expand. But I've met a lot of young people that love older movies.  I've also known some older people that don't like older movies.  Frankly, when anyone - regardless of age - makes blanket statements about older - or newer - movies, I just don't take it very seriously because it's a sign that the person isn't very open-minded.

+1 with bkev. Don't lump a whole generation as uncultured. Trust me eventually reason will win out even with today's kids. As they mature, they'll naturally realize what's better.

(In case, anyone's wondering, yes I am part of the Post-SE generation and I do like the real Original Trilogy much better)...

I also think it has a lot to do with what you grew up on. I grew up watching a lot of classic shows and movies that they used to air all the time. Whereas nowadays most channels just play the same tired sitcoms and reality shows to death day after day.
