I hope these leaked changes do lead to a significant loss of sales. Because at the moment, all I can think of is that tweet Katie Lucas put out: Haters are gonna hate, but, in the end, they're still going to buy it. That's the (up until now extremely accurate) impression they have of us. The fans will bitch and moan because that's what fans do. The press will cover it. But in the end it will still be the most successful Blu-ray release ever. So why not keep making changes? That's the mindset we have to squash because it gives them license to keep going, and it makes us look stupid.
Star Wars fans are the most self-loathing group I've ever known. They complain (rightfully) and bemoan how diluted and shitty the franchise has become, yet they continue to cling to every piece of scrap from Lucas' table because they need their SW fix. It's an unhealthy addiction.
I couldn't care less about the stupid Clone Wars cartoon or any other EU garbage. The comics and novels were fun in the 90s, but now there's so much crap out there it must feel like a chore just to keep up.
Yet, at the same time it does seem that if you sample people on the web who have spoken against the blu-ray, a majority of them have canceled their preorders or otherwise sworn off the set. This saga will sell because of people who don't follow these rumors and tidbits as closely as us, and they make up probably 95+% of the consumer base.
