I'm already pre-emptively hiding from this, but are any of these changes really THAT bad? As far as the Nooo! goes, it kind of ties the prequels in nicely to the OT, the Krayt dragon call is incredibly minor, and Adywan made the cantina aliens blink, so why can't the Ewoks? Is any of this as awful as Greedo shooting first? Jabba's Palace dance number? For the first time, I feel like I actually get why he is making these changes. And the CGI TPM Yoda is a huge improvement. That puppet looked like Kermit and Miss Piggy's ugly middle child.

Don't get me wrong, I would generally rather watch the Original Versions. but I find the special editions sort of cool in that Lucas is changing all six movies to gradually make them work together as a cohesive whole. If you look at them that way, they've almost become an interesting fanedit of themselves.

I'm going to go hide behind my ray shield now...

For one thing Adywan isn't Lucas and yet he bothers to get the colours, saber blades etc to look as close to right as possible and he corrects continuity errors where as Lucas makes new ones where they previous weren't.

The Ewoks eyes changing seems to be done in a piecemeal fashion, Ben's howl sounds utterly awful and as for the new "Noooooooooo"! as if the PT hadn't already robbed Anakin/Vader of any dignity this is just bonkers beyond bonkers.

As people have been saying, if the OUT was in the set any further SE changes George made would be bad enough but at least you could pop on the original versions but this edition means that even the SE fans are getting shafted again.

People who pre-ordered this did so thinking they were getting the films with a few new changes but none of these were new revelations were announced after waiting for the countdown clock a few months ago.

If these changes don't bother you then enjoy your discs by all means but you can't really compare what Lucas has done half arsed here with the sort of meticulous care and consultation that Adywan has put into his amateur (in the true sense of the word) SEs.

For one thing he isn't charging for them let alone encouraging people to pre-order something that he isn't delivering.

It is sandpapering the smile off the Mona Lisa and I'm not paying for it.
