Look on the bright side...maybe it's just a hilarious joke Lucas is playing on the bootleggers, like when they named it Revenge of the Jedi to catch them in the act! Right?
.........right? =|

Yeah, he's also obsessed with amputation and midgets.

WOW - my email inbox is flooded with updates on this thread. Is there any way to subscribe to a topic without receiving e-mail notifications?
Isn't that the whole point of a subscription?

You know what: except for the "NOOO" and the rocks in front of R2 disappearing, I'd be ok with all of this for a Special Edition. The unfreezing is very nice, the Ewok blinks hopefully are more consistent the the Gorn in "Star Trek Remastered" (we made the Gorn blink! Twice!), heck, even the Dug is ok. It's the fact that this is supposed to be Lucas' ultimate vision, and there's still wires, strings, seams, garbage mattes, color errors, and other things you know he hates but didn't have them fix, that's what gets me.

Even on HTF the Lucas apologists have been unusually quiet today - maybe now they've gotten a little taste of what it's like to have your favorite films ruined.
I think Lucas really has gone too far this time.
You should see over at blu-ray.com. Some of the same apologists still saying they don't mind the new changes and I'm sure I read one of them say that they thought it was in fact better... I seriously do wonder sometimes.

I have to say I'm actually surprised there are so few changes, just R2 in the rocks in Star Wars, none so far in Empire and it seems like Jedi was the one he decided to fuck up more for this release. It's funny, in 97 he obviously ruined Star Wars the most, in 04 I'd say Empire was the most screwed up what with Boba's voice and the Emperor's new dumb dialogue. Now it was Jedi's turn.
But seriously I was kinda expecting all sorts of prequel shit, like Padme's photos on Obi-Wan's house or colored Stormtroopers. Lucas probably restrained himself to please us!
My preorder is cancelled. George Lucas has failed me for the last time.

The leaked movies scream 'hoax' so much that they must be legit. Who else would come up with this abomination of a scene than GL? I really like the diversity of the different versions available but the BD'11 version of the films is just another bullet to the dead horse called 'fan'.
I was going to buy once the first real reviews came up and the price went down. But to GL I have to say: Nooooooooooooooo! Until the UOT is released, and I still believe it will be (most likely as a preservation done by a fan), I will enjoy all the fan-edits, LDs and VHS tapes that I own.
For a moment I had hope that LFL would watch the ESB and ROTJ wishlist thread. But I should have known better.
Here is another idea: Include a Noooooo-scream in every scene Darth Vader is in.
Obi-Wan: You can't win, Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.
Vader: Nooooooooooooo!
Tarkin: The Jedi are extinct, their fire has gone out of the universe. You, my friend, are all that's left of their religion.
Vader: Nooooooooooooo!
Tarkin: Enough of this! Vader, release him!
Vader: Nooooooooooooo!
Officer: We count 30 Rebel ships, Lord Vader, but they're so small they're avoiding our turbo lasers!
Vader: Nooooooooooooo!
etc...

After hearing Vader's NOOO I was expecting to see Qui-Gon among the Force ghosts at the end...

Weren't there mockups of colored Stormtroopers made in the past?
"I'm altering the films. Pray I don't alter them any further." - Now I know exactly how Lando felt.
You have failed me for the last time, George.
Thank goodness for Ady, Harmy, DarkJedi and their efforts. Thanks, guys!
I do not fear the Dark Side as you do.
This has really made me realize something that maybe you guys already knew: It's not so much George screwing this up, but George letting a bunch of over-excited amateurs have at his movies. Clearly most of these changes were simply ego trips for visual effects and audio editors to put their mark on the films.
I know George probably gives final approval, but I bet he doesn't even watch the whole films, they just show him a few clips and he okays them probably.
That being said, I'm no purist. I enjoyed the changes to the trilogy so far, except for the addition of Jedi Rocks, the Jabba scene in '97, and the burping frog in ROTJ. So I'm not the type of fan to get upset over coloring or audio flipping or obscure things like that.
But I went from being excited to buy this yesterday to not buying it now. I could handle the Ewok changes. Sebulba in ROTJ? No problem, unless in motion it looks terrible. Anakin at the end of ROTJ? A little strange, could have used a better clip of him, but whatever.
But the Krayt dragon and Vader scenes are so beyond terrible I can't believe they ever got the green light. Not only are they unnecessary but they simply sound bad. They sound amateurish. How could professionals, even if they thought the sounds needed to be changed, approve of these new sounds? They don't even sound like they belong in the clips.
And the Vader scene was the final straw. Coolest, most powerful moment of the sage ruined? It's not like ignoring Greedo shoots first, or the burping frog, non-essential parts of a story that you can move on from. The Vader scene is the emotional culmination of the entire saga.
I think I'll wait 6 months for the unaltered originals to be released.
But has anyone watched the prequels yet? I had held out hope that they would be changed for the better. Clips of dialogue and audio here, fixed effects here, reduced backflipping there, eliminating some of the awkward pauses between line delivery...but judging from the OT changes it looks extremely unlikely. Can anyone talk about changes to AOTC and ROTS?
This makes me so mad, because with my discount I could have gotten the complete set for 60 bucks. And now I won't get to see Star Wars on blu ray.

Maybe someone can dig these images back again

Er, the burping frog (worrt) wasn't a special edition...addition. It's always been in there.
Would you spend the time and resources to track down a leak source (or chain) by putting together a half completed blu-ray; order and print let's say 50k worth of copies (the MPAA pay pitch in), in the hope that it leaks so that you can then track down all involved? Every Star Wars release from 1977 to now has had someone do some jail time, who's it going to be this time.

Wasn't it exaggerated in the SE? I guess it's been a while since I've watched my original VHS tapes.
Could someone please check the version which supposedly has a Mandarin audio track for the new Krayt dragon sound effect in that Mandarin track.
MF.com poster checked:
I just checked Mandarin track. Krayt Dragon is old version and end of the ROTJ doesn't have Vader's "No! Noo!". I would guess that Mandarin track is from DVD.
Since Amazon.cn didn't list the blu-ray as forthcoming, China's not getting this so these versions are filling some market void.
Maybe the leaked films are really fanedits released by Anti-Matter?
And as for canceling pre-orders, I'm wondering if it would be better to the the orders ship and THEN return them. That might make more a point.
I'm not trying to make a point to George Lucas. I want out. I'm done. You can't reason with that man.
