That's awful. We'll soon need a thread that documents all the changes that have been introduced in the 2011 Special Editions lol.
So, so, SO arbitrary. And the shadow is blue.

I think this is just wonderful. I love seeing him screw up his films more and more with every release. Maybe he will work himself back around to the UOT eventually.....
I hope you are following the thread on that "other" forum. The stages of apologist denial you constructed earlier this summer were perfect. I'm watching it play out beautifully.

Oh, I think I figured out how R2 got in there. What ady didn't show us is the preceding footage where there's actually a hole above the cave. In the last shot, R2 flies up in the air with his rocket boots, does a little figure 8 and a somersault and then lands deftly in the cave. I mean, obviously it's to match the prequels. It's like poetry.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.
Just add them to the existing thread? ;-)Chewtobacca said:

I made the preview tiny just in case people don't want spoilers. Just click on the image to view
I like them! Pretty well executed :)
Will post later in the ANH radical ideas topic

Weird. It does not even need to be changed at all. Odd choice.

In the short term, that's obviously the solution, but I meant that we would soon need one to document them for easy reference. ;-)

Sorry. I was in a bad mood.
adywan, you have got to be bullshitting me.
looking for HDTV of the Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Also HDTV of The Lord of the Rings trilogy
What gets me is I have a list of 250 perfectly acceptable changes to ANH that are generally well regarded, and the only thing so far is to make it physically impossible for R2 to move. Ok...

Like I said, LFL clearly views SW not as a classic movie, but as a little sandbox they get to play in once every few years.

All this pointless jackoffery is just to make it more of a special event when the originals finally come out, right? RIGHT?
I wanted to thank this thread for saving me $93 on amazon as I almost preordered the set (thank you hometheaterforum hype).
The R2 cave alteration, I have no words.
I'll wait for the deleted scenes to be leaked hopefully in the next few days and then Puggo's ESB 16mm print for my SW winter fix.
Most directors don't change their films every seven years. Doesn't GL realize this? I guess he has to make himself unique as a director since he can't make a good film anymore.

Well, a great majority of SW fans disliked the PT.
If it's the majority or not, that remains to be seen.
Most of the PT enthusiasts were children when those movies came out. The PT is Lucas' trilogy, while the OT creatively belongs to a number of people.
Strawman.
Lucas wants people to like the PT as much as the OT so that the entire saga can thrive.
And where does that come from?
That's why you only get the special features discs with the complete set and not the individual trilogies.
You know, that works for those who like the PT only, too. And yes, there are people who do.
A considerable number of consumers would only buy the OT set if it had all the relevant deleted scenes and bonus features.
Speculation.
Not sure what you're trying to argue here, as you have no argument.
No. You are the one who has no argument when you say that "Lucas wants people to like the PT as much as the OT so that the entire saga can thrive." One doesn't need to like both trilogies the same, to accept it as one saga. Besides, that kind of argument (or lack of) is in the same extreme as Lucas gushers excuses.
Lucas wants SW to be one saga rather than two disparate trilogies. If you can't understand that, then you are lost! ;)
Another strawman.
I mainly agree with your straman sentiments, but his last point you quoted is quite valid. It's called "The Saga of Anakin Skywalker" for a reason...

It may be a valid point, but nobody is arguing that it's a saga or that George wants to view it as such.
Oh, also, I just realized. With all the things that have been confirmed, this brings back the possibility that Nien Nub's echo effect from the youtube video on his voice is real...

This thread is giving me great ideas for my eventual Ridiculous edits of the OT.
Aren't those coming out on blu-ray soon?

REALLY? That's pointless. Beyond belief.
It's not pointless at all. Clearly someone at Lucasfilm loves 005 and just wants to give him more to do with his hobby!

Can someone confirm Sebastian Shaw is still there when the mask comes off, eyebrows or no eyebrows?
Where were you in '77?
Okay that new R2 shot is hilarious.
No one could be that stupid to think that's a good idea. Why are ROCKS being inserted into a 30 year old film?!?

Again, I'm not sure what you're trying to prove. You've been following my posts a bit too closely. Obsession?
It's plainly obvious that Lucas wants all six movies to stand up together. He knows many people dislike the PT. Your logic is inherently flawed. "One doesn't need to like both trilogies the same to accept it as one saga." This is nonsensical and irrelevant. I'm not talking about acceptance. I'm talking about what people are willing to spend money on.
Your "Strawman" in response to my comment about creative input to the PT/OT is idiotic. The OT had Kurtz, Marcia, Kazanjian, Kirschner, Marquand, Kasdan, and other people heavily involved in the creative process. The PT had Lucas writing a first draft and making a movie from it. Your denial is borderline childish and irrational.
Are you claiming that Lucas doesn't want people to like the PT alongside the OT? Are you saying that having people enjoy the PT/OT together is not beneficial to the viability and profitability of the film saga?
If you think that a majority of fans prefer the PT, then you've got your head buried under the sand, kiddo. Look at sales figures for individual trilogies on dvd, for example.
Stop quoting my posts. If you feel like expressing your irrational denial, head to blu-ray.com.
