Maybe I got your point wrong or something, but I think the Matrix is objectively an incomparably better film than the prequels.

A lot, a LOT of elements in that film appear cheesy, hamfisted or ridiculous when the "whoa" hype is gone, sure, but it's just AMAZING. I love it.
