One question tho. Why the shuttle comes from the tiny hangar in ROTJ and here we have leaving from the main one?

Ah yes, this was something that was actually brought up and mocked-up way back when.  (I know there's a reference to it on page 172, although the images ended up being re-organised since then, so are no longer there)

Out of curiosity at the time, I'd asked doubleofive to roughly mock-up a shot of the 'Lambada' shuttle dropping from the front 'bay' of Needa's Stardestroyer, to see how it looked if it matched where the shuttle comes out in the footage at the start of ROTJ.  Of course, it would have meant adywan having to show a very different flightpath down to the Executor below, compared to how the existing shot looks.

Anyway, it turned out that he intends to alter the intro. of ROTJ for his eventual Revisited edit, so that it seems Vader is on his Executor rather than some random Stardestroyer...so the existing ROTJ shot of the shuttle dropping down from the front 'bay' is likely to be GONE in his version.

I reckon his existing clip of the new shuttle emerging from the middle 'bay' of Needa's Stardestroyer looks great already, and it's interesting that it was mentioned a couple of days ago that it still isn't finished yet...

By the way adywan, I've been away a while, but loved the recent latest preview clip too.  A heap of neat enhancements during that, and the new continuity of the SE Bespin city 'window' during all the relevant shots where Lando betrays Han and co. is especially impressive.  :)

I can now breath a little easier because an earlier incomplete incarnation of the window correction was on my workprint raffle second prize clip but I couldn't mention it until now.

Although this raises the question of "Then how does Palpatine get to the Death Star?", I'm really glad to hear this. Having Vader arrive in the Executor keeps better continuity with ESB, and results in a more impressive SD-flyover shot, instead of just repeating the ANH intro.

Sorry but that just looks gay as hell.

Sorry but using "gay as hell" to describe something you don't like is gay as hell.

...double standard?

More like slamming someone's inappropriate comment with an inappropriate comment, I'd say. Mockery at its finest.

There are 10 types of people in this world: those who understand binary, and those who do not.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that certain groups believe all gay people end up in hell?

But we're now about as far off-topic as this thread has ever gone....

When I read what Ady asked yesterday, I didn't expect the answer he got.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

That's great news! Saves Ady having to build them himself. The more talented people like that he can get on board, the better :-D

Really dumb question: who is this?  I googled and got nothing useful.

I always thought Hell was hot, and believe me there is nothing gay about sweat stains.

the only unfortunate thing is that the cloud city model is warped. He makes these things out of wood for the most part. His executor is pretty amazing. Shame that you couldn't put the lights in these things, which is why i'm going to have to make my own.

After seeing your ET you did in the 80's, I can only imagine how awesome your Cloud City in the 10's will be.

Ady did a mold of ET in school years back. He posted it on facebook. I'd snap it and post it on here, but I'm lazy.

Ady, will you be using his model of the Executor or any of his other models?

"Darth Vader... tall and threatening in his black helmet, flowing black cape, and a face, forever masked, by a foreboding metal breath screen...

Darth Vader... a figure, who moves forever in a cloud of awesome evil!"

I think the quoted text answers your question.

So ady you have plans of making a physical cloud city model...

Thats interesting...

Im wondering what shots do you want to expand or reshoot? Since such model cant be wasted just to replace the already ones ;)

The main problem is that the painting really does stand out as a painting when combined with the real clouds. Also you only really see the city at one angle and i would like to be able to add some slight differences, especially when the falcon is rescuing Luke/ escaping. It isn't a really intricate model so the time scale to build it would be relatively short. Out of all the shots you see the city, the only one that works and doesn't look like a painting now is the Luke approach with the sun behind the city. the rest, well, look like crap.

Its nice to see that answers are more often on facebook rather here :)

Anyhow got some ideas and previz how you want the shots look?

I like you are revisiting old ideas and ways you done :)

Also that model proves that bottom surface that luke is hanged is angled :)

With all the recent madness and disappointment with the whole saga of the OT on Blu-ray i though i'd try to cheer everyone up a little. So here is a brand new clip. Now the audio is only a temp track so you will see that effects don't sync up or are missing.

I'm still 50/50 whether i should include the hyperspace jump or not so this may well not make it into the final version.

Thanks for the clip Ady, awesome work on the color correction and star fields! Personally I'd leave the hyperspace jump out. We know from SW77 that it takes time to get coordinates from a navi-computer to calculate a jump to lightspeed. So to have him figure out their destination based on their course and be instantly ready to jump to lightspeed so quickly is a bit of a stretch.
