All the news so far on the blu ray set of Star Wars has been great. I cannot wait to watch the Star Wars saga on blu ray. September 16 cannot come soon enough. So excited.

Agreed!

September 16th, the day that the Star Wars films come to Blu-ray, will be the greatest day of my life.

Star Wars Always and Forever!

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

If only we knew that the colour correction done prior to the files been sent to Lowry included the crushed blacks or if there was more work done after this process.

Slightly off topic, but i was really surprised the other day when i went into my local Currys store and they were playing ESB and the Clone Wars DVDs on their TVs. Now i know thats not surprising because they have the Star Wars promotion with 3P0 & R2 at the moment. What was surprising is this: i wasn't paying much attention to what was playing apart from that it was the scenes prior to them rescuing Luke. But i almost broke my neck because my head turned around so fast when i heard "Bring my shuttle". They were playing the GOUT and NOT the 2004 DVDs. Way to go Currys. :)

Wait a minute, I am confused at what you are saying here, as "Bring my shuttle" was not in the OOT, it was in the SE, so you were watching the '04 DVDs.

Do you see?

No, "bring my shuttle" was the original, in the SEs it was changed to "Alert my star destroyer to prepare for my arrival."

But was the picture letterboxed? If not.... could it have been DJ's v3 or something? Harmy's Despecialized?

LOL, I doubt it was mine, my Set is not that popular, my projects are only known by you guys here, not any where else.

Has anyone heard if the UK disks will still have the headbutt cut out of AOTC? I can't find any information on this yet.

You sure?  V3 has been mentioned on reddit:

also about a year ago you got a shout out in the 'George Lucas is a dirty whoreslut' thread in the ironically but true 'Harmony Central Forums':

If you look back on the last page you'll see this:

The Aluminum Falcon said:

Out of curiosity, Adywan, are you sure it is the GOUT; it would be unbelievable if someone dared to play Harmy's Despecialized, your Reconstruction, or DJ's V3.

adywan said:

yeh, it was defiantly the GOUT they were playing.

Ugh not to derail the thread, but that change is one of the fundamentally worst of them all.

"Bring my shuttle" - Vader sounded PISSED, as he justifiably was so

"Alert my..." - long-winded, unnecessary, doesn't reflect Vader's mindset at that moment

Lucas tries to over explain various details of the OT and it comes off moronically.  He doesn't respect his audience to make small inferences such as Vader going to his ship or Han being indebted to a gangster, even though they're quite clear in the UOT.

" A million OUT Star Wars fans suddenly cried out in terror...then were suddenly silenced..." :) lol

I really wish that " Bring my shuttle" was in the SE. It was a much better line and delivery that they SE's "Alert my stardestroyer that i need to take a dump".

New Blu-Ray video of Mustafar: Fan editors take note: The dialogue & sound effects are isolated in the right channel for the whole video. This doesn't happen on the non-international video though. This would be great it it points to the new mixes for the blu-ray having the dialogue & sound effects isolated in the centre channel.

The sound for those little video clips of all 6 films on the star wars youtube channel just don't sound right. The little video clips on the starwars aficionado blogspot site and on the walmart site sound so much better. Those audio from those youtube clips will not be how it will sound when the final blu-ray's come out in September.

It's just that the OT is viewed as the past, and only desired by a niche market. The dollar signs are not large enough. It doesn't matter that people would do the work for next to nothing. Most of us on here know more about the presentation of the films than anyone on the Blu production staff. (We should just petition them to let us freelance the work.) Ever since Robert Harris mentioned that he knew the OT existed in decent to good condition materials and could certainly be presented well instead of the LFL claimed "they don't exist/deteriorated/destroyed" there's been no validity to their argument. Now they hide behind the supposed cost instead of the personal vision.

See, this I don't buy. Criterion releases movies handled with great care to an extremely niche market. How do they get around this? they price their Blu Rays at higher prices, usually in the ~$35 range, but sometimes even in the ~$50 range.

If the OT was actually released, it would sell because it has the Star Wars logo on it. 'nuff said. If making a profit was really a concern (which we all know it isn't), then I'm sure the niche market would be willing to shell out ANY amount of money necessary.

The fact of the matter is, George doesn't want these movies out there. And that is a nearly impossible obstacle to get around. GOUT was just a "shut the fuck up" to the fans of the original trilogy. I can't see him following that up in his lifetime.

You forgot to say how excited you are for Star Wars on blu-ray on September 16 because it will be a great box set and all the news has been really great and you just cannot wait for SW on blu-ray on September 16 because you're really excited and it's going to be a great set and September 16 cannot come soon enough so that you can enjoy SW on blu-ray on September 16.

I contacted the BBFC two weeks ago about the head but and whether it would finally be in the UK version of AOTC. They got back to me and said they were in the process of going through all the films and materials and couldn't tell me, suggesting I keep an eye on their website. So far, zip. I'm wondering if they'll put anything up for it. Doesn't LUCASFILM want to keep a lid on some of the so-called surprise extras materials on the Blu-ray that have so far not officially been listed? It looks like there's going to be at last one easter egg linked to the HOLIDAY SPECIAL...

I'm pretty sure that the easter egg is the Holiday Special cartoon.
