Star Wars prequel comic

I'm not sure this belongs here, and if it doesn't, please tell me where to go.

Look, I really want to do this. There is a guy doing this already but is taking his time, but my thought is, why not have other comics, just like we have tons of prequels edits.

We had a group that wanted to do an animated prequel trilogy, but perhaps that's a bit too complicated.

I think at this point, this is our best bet to get a proper prequel trilogy. I don't mind writing it, but I need someone who can draw.

So, I guess at this point that's my question. Anyone know how to draw? Hit me up. I'm really itching to do this!

For a long while I had been planning out a prequel edit of the trilogy in comic form, however I found out about another set of people working on something similar and eventually dropped it.
Although a project such as this would be very time intensive, imagining each film would be rendered as a 100 pages or so 'graphic novel' type thing.
I'm not sure if I'd be able to volunteer to work on such a project for such a time, but I'd be happy to do a mock up of a few pages though to get a sense of it.

Brax all you have to do is go forward in time pick the finished product up and add it to your collection.

Everyone else has to wait or do the hard work ;-)

I'd like to see your work.

What became of that prequel comic that those other people were working on? I've never heard anything about it.

But, yeah, in the free time I have I work on my story that I'm putting together. Some others on here are as well. I think that's got to be the start of the whole thing.

Comic form is probably the best way to go though, I'd have to agree.

I hear you, buddy.

I've been thinking about remaking The Star Wars Prequels in a comic-book form for some time now. And while I think I have some cool ideas that could actually work... there's just not enough of them. I mean, you can't build a house with just a few bricks. :/

First, of course, is the script.

The story has to make sense, characters have to be interesting/well written, the whole thing's gotta have a nice flow and a style that fits in with The Original Trilogy. But it's easier said than done...

Like, take fan-written scripts, for example. The main problem with most of them is that they take themselves way too seriously. The dialogue is sophisticated and filled with unusual words and expressions. Story-lines are a bit too complex and rather joyless. Then there's a lot of political crap mixed with moody action scenes...

And, on top of that, you can actually feel that the person writing the script is more worried than excited [to write a Star Wars story]. Without fun there's no fun... And it's the same thing with me.

That damn script. It's a major problem. The deeper I try to get into it, the more plot-holes I make, the more depressed I get... The fact that English isn't my 1st language doesn't help either.

And then, of course, there's drawing - putting it all on a page.

Personally, I'm just an amateur caricaturist. I draw stuff like this:

Now, can you even imagine my take on a wide-shot of Coruscant? ... That's right...

So, yeah, this prequel re-write - I wanna do it, I just don't know if I can.

But I really hope that some day someone will. Cause it would be awesome!

The EU writers should be making these kind of comics, as far as I'm concerned. It's not as if they're unable; they've got the Infinities imprint for out-of-continuity storylines. And it's not like there's no precedence for it; DC and Marvel Comics have been churning out alternate non-canon storylines for decades. But the EU has to be different, doesn't it? Everything's got to be continuity, continuity, continuity!!! Canon, canon, canon!!!

God, what a stifling, stagnant franchise.

Man, why can't Wars EU be like Trek EU, where the only things that are canon are the movies and tv shows. Yet ANOTHER reason why trek is better than wars...

So Droids and Ewoks, as well as Clone Wars would be canon as well?

The franchises I get nerdy about are so obscure that not even most nerds know about them.

Well... sort of... alot of people don't consider the "star trek animated series" to be canon so I guess droids and Ewoks don't have to be canon...

How about if you take the comic one step further...

Back in that ancient thread about animating the NPT, I always figured that would be near impossible.

I always thought it would be cool to make storyboard for the NPT, so basically a comic with soundtrack and sound fx.

What do you think?

I think the hardest part is writing/agreeing on a script.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"[George Lucas] rebooted the franchise in 1997 without telling anyone." -skyjedi2005

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

Rewrite the Prequels!

Good idea.  It's the best a single person could hope to achieve who already doesn't have some animation background.

I've already had the idea of turning the existing PT into a storyboard.  Take stills from the movies, add completely new dialogue, incorporate John Williams' score and SFX.  Perhaps add a comic book effect to the images.  With some voice actors you could even do a sort of visually aided radio drama.
