Ha-ha, what an awesome dad.
I currently have 154 games installed on my secondary 1TB hard drive on my computer. Should I post the specifications for it sometime? I built it myself.

For some reason this post makes me want to respond with a picture of a very large black dildo... Don't ask me why.
Someone is embarrassingly proud of their computer building skills.

I think we should all post our specifications... like, in our signatures. So we know at all times who has the best rig and therefore whose opinions matter the most.
EDIT: When I said "specifications, I meant, of course, computer specifications... ;)

Frink, you don't have an awesome gaming computer, so your arguments (and jokes) are invalid.

The "ending" video was pretty clunky. I don't think it was any different for having the DLC installed...
If the DLC isn't installed, the game ends with you dying in the chamber. Unless you made the Brotherhood of Steel girl go in there to take care of it for you.
CP3S said:
If you have the Broken Steel DLC installed, then as you saw, they retcon the ending and have you wake up from a coma. If you beat the game without any DLC installed the first time like I did, then once you install Broken Steel you have to load a save right before the end of the game (which I had), or play back up to that point to access the DLC which automatically starts right after the ending.

But the point of all of this- I didn't die nor did I have the chick die at the end. I just sent my mutant supermutant in to handle it. He was glad to do it and the radiation didn't hurt him any.
Weird. I had Fawkes with me at that point in the game, and it gave me the option to ask him to go in for me... and he gave me some speech about how this is my story and that it was something I had to do on my own. I figured they made him say that to negate a super mutant companion being the perfect solution to having a good karma ending without the self sacrifice.
I wonder if certain conditions determine whether Fawkes will go in and take care of it for you rather than just pontificate about character development, or if when they released the Broken Steel DLC they decided they ruined the dramatic ending already anyway, and changed things to allow the reasonable solution of Fawkes going into the chamber for you.
Just out of curiosity, with the ending you got, what happened after the ending narration? As I said, for me with my character "dying" at the end, it has him wake up from a coma at the Brotherhood of Steel's base. You said they rolled the two week later card, so do they have you starting off with the Bro. Hood of Steel base still?

What did you do with the modified FEV? I didn't think it sounded like such a bad idea...
Kill all of the feral ghouls and supermutants whilst purifying the water? Sounds good to me! Feeling like maybe I should play Raven Rock (again!) I turned to google again to see what I was missing. If you didn't use the FEV or haven't read about it, I recommend you do the same. I'm glad I didn't do it, but I was impressed with the ramifications.
Weird hearing the guy who is proud of having a super mutant and a ghoul as a companion thinks killing all the ghouls and super mutants would be a good idea.
The first time I beat it, I kept replaying the ending while trying different things, using the modified FEV was one of the things I did. Unfortunately, at that time the only difference it could make was in the mix 'n match ending narration.
Does it actually effect the world in the DLC? I can't imagine they'd really remove all the super mutants and feral ghouls from the game. I guess I'll have to google it. Seems like I actually googled it once before, and pretty much read that there is no difference. Maybe I read a bad source.
From the Fallout Wikia under the entry for Fawkes:
When the player is faced with the climactic decision at the conclusion of the game, Fawkes politely declines to enter the radioactive room in lieu of the player (even though he is immune to radioactivity), stating that the decision is the player's destiny and not his. However, if the player has the Broken Steel add-on installed, the option to send Fawkes in will appear, allowing the player to opt out of entering themselves or Sentinel Sarah Lyons. When this option is used, he states that although he was going to tell the player that the player's destiny lies in that chamber, he has already altered his own.
Yeah, so prior to Broken Steel, this option wasn't available. Phew! I was starting to thinks my character and Fawkes just weren't as tight as Xhonzi's character and Fawkes... and that made me sad.
Also googled the FEV stuff, wow, didn't realize it did all of that. That is really cool, kind of wish I would have now.

In the DLC Broken Steel, if the player had chosen to contaminate the purifier with the Modified FEV, the medical facility of every city is filled with new patients dying from FEV poisoning. The new patients hold their stomachs and repeat dialogue along the lines of, "it burns on the inside." When the player speaks with the doctor at any given town, they state that the condition is not contagious. In Rivet City, Dr. Preston comments that they are burning the corpses just to be safe. In Megaton, Doc Church comments along the lines of, "it would be ironic if we were so used to the crap we had been drinking that pure water is killing us."

Hey! I said FERAL ghouls, FERAL! And I wasn't thinking about my mutant supermutant. I was mostly thinking about all of the ones I kill on sight. But the hitch is that it will also kill/make sick anyone suffering from any small amount of radiation sickness... I.e. basically everyone.

I also read that drinking the water will kill you... because you've obviously soaked up a lot or rads in your time.
Yeah, I just read all that myself. Really cool.
I know you said feral, but obviously it would kill the intelligent ghouls as well. Eden explains that it will kill any mutations, including just about everyone who wasn't born in a radiation free environment like the vaults. Which explains why it kills you if you drink it.
