If Fox owned the rights as a corporation out to make profits you know they would put out awesome restored versions of the oot, sadly Lucas retains all the rights.
If Lucas was as good a businessman as he is reported to be he would see the demand for the oot, or at least as a man on a board dedicated to preservation of films he should just let his ego go.
It makes no logical sense, having the oot out there does not mean he cannot sale a new original vision version every few years.
Not only that putting the choice in the hands of the consumer is ultimately democratic and the American thing to do.
