Puggo, are you causing trouble with your weird memories again?
(I believe you)
You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Fuck it, I'm doing it anyway;
Memories can be unreliable things sometimes. I remember Leia having her hair done up in buns the first time I saw TESB, and I remember Luke having a blue lightsaber the first time I saw ROTJ. Of course, when I saw them again later, neither Leia's TESB buns nor Luke's blue ROTJ lightsaber were present.
I think I can chalk the blue lightsaber up to being a result of the TV's tint setting being off, though.

(Mouth frozen open) Ohhhhhhhhhh!
One thing I'd love to do in my lifetime is restore both the US series and Japanese Mach-Go-Go from the original 35mm masters. I'm soo tired of the freaking Betacam masters done in 93 for VHS and DVD with the new logos and a few time compressed episodes.

I am quite certain I saw the full Biggs reunion in the theater multiple times mid-1977. Unlike the hook, the Biggs scene isn't an incidental thing, but a lengthy scene with significant dialogue. I don't expect people to believe me, but I don't mind... I'm confident my memory will be vindicated someday!
Strange how I recall it so vividly as well. I hope my memory isn't playing tricks on me, which it has and that time it was also a vivid memory. :-(
I saw it sometime between 2002 and 2005, thinking that "Luke's father" was the AOTC version of Anakin. I remember being quite fascinated about it for some time. It was actually what really inspired me to think about how Episode IV really came first and the film makers didn't really know how they would eventually portray Luke's father in the prequels. I started wondering about production history... then being intrigued by an unaltered VHS... then wanted to learn more about getting unaltered versions.. I suppose it inadvertently led to a chain of events which led me to this site...... jeez and I can't even find it.
It's ironic how a lie your memory plays on you can lead to so much...
I remember seeing it on a TV in widescreen, the exact same angle as in the Special Edition. I distinctly remember the Pilot's line "I knew you're father. He was the best starpilot in the galaxy," then he later said, "If you're half as good as he is, you'll be all right."
If anyone's curious, at my disposal, I had the Faces Laserdiscs, the Widescreen Special Edition VHSes, the 1990 Trilogy Box Set, the mid-1980's CBS/Fox issues, From Star Wars to Jedi, and the 2004 set.
I know I've seen it somewhere somehow not theatrically and not in Deleted Magic etc.

Luke's saber was blue in the "Revenge" trailer though.

Who is the "old woman on Tattooine" from ANH? Some of these scenes, I've not heard of/don't know what they're referring to...
The lady who tells Luke to slow down, because he is driving his landspeeder too fast. Coming into Toche Station. Of course in a hurry because he has just seen the stardestroyer overhead overtaking the tantive IV with his macrobinoculars.
He almost runs the lady down with his speeder, Luke's a crazy drunk driver just like Marty Mcfly.

Something I wish was included in the deleted scenes: more Owen and Beru, and/or more Homestead, from Episode 2. I always got the impression from the OT that there was more of a connection there, and it would be nice to see what was actually filmed and then shaved down.

As you've seen in some of the teaser clips Lucasfilm has released, they're not pristine, but most of them are in HD - at least the Original Trilogy clips.
There's more impressions of the material, but that's the detail which can be mentioned at this point.
Since I saw SW in 77 four times, my memory of the Biggs scene is quite specific... I remember the reunion making me think I must not have been paying attention earlier, because I didn't know who this guy with the mustache was. It seemed like an important reunion, and he should be someone we had been introduced to before. I also remember the third guy in the scene looked like a friend of mine at high school. I also always remembered Luke being a sort of mini-celebrity in the hangar before the trench battle because of who his father was, but without that scene it's not the case.
I saw SW in 1985 at an all-night trilogy marathon, and I'm pretty sure it didn't have the scene. I remember thinking that some things were different in the hangar.
I didn't read the novel until about 2 years ago.
The first home video version I bought was the faces vhs tape, and I remember being disturbed that if that scene was missing (and "close the blast doors", and the missed grappling hook, and that Vaders getting blasted out of the trench being extended for continuity), there must be other stuff missing or changed too. In exploring that issue, I started learning more about the movie, such as the different soundtracks, which later explained most of the things. I'm satisfied with every explanation now, except the Biggs scene.
FWIW, I saw the movie in 1977 in Logan, Utah (3 times) and in Sacramento, CA (1 time in 1977 probably in 70mm, 1 time in 1983 in 35mm). I used to be jealous of people who saw it in 70mm, but now I think I may have seen it in 70mm because the theater in Sac had 4 screens that were 70mm-ready.
Anyone here ever try to follow up on this guy:

Very interesting.
Something that I found very interesting is the comparison shot of the Wampa. Not only is the arm fixed, but note the color difference between the two shots, it appears that they really may have taken the color timing complaints to heart.
Obviously we're still stuck with things like Han not shooting first and the cartoon additions into VI, but the saber work, color timing and audio work seem promising, at least based the write-up. Most OT deleted scenes in HD is also very promising. I'm guessing just about everything but the Tatooine footage will be HD, but he definitely indicated that there would be IV footage in HD, so perhaps footage of Vader on the SD, Leia's reaction after Alderaan will be HD (even if a bit scratchy).
Thanks for posting none.
Isn't it in the Marvel adaptation?
Could it be your mind has merged the two?
It is also probable you have passed into a divergent universe (this frequently happens to me).
Puggo - I have seen Star Wars first time in the 80's on a very very very very high generation VHS with I think polish voiceover. I have seen the VHS tape many, many times during my childhood before I lost (or taped over) it. The Biggs scene was for me always an integral part of the movie. After I went to the cinema to see the '97 SE I found out which scenes were altered / added to the SE. I was surprised to find the Biggs scene on the list, because for me the scene was always the part of the movie. I thought that they actually EDITED it for the SE, because what I remembered was LONGER. It's only after I downloaded the EditDroid bootleg that I realised that this scene was NOT in the "official theatrical version".
I also remember a short "handshaking" scene between Luke and "Wedge" at the rebel hangar briefing room after the part where Luke admits he used to shoot "wamprats" (?) .
When I came here a few years ago, everybody claimed that's just mixed memories, but the only thing I read was the novel, I never read the comic book, and I heard the radio drama just once, and it was only a few years ago

Could it be that you only saw the Biggs scene in the 70mm Sacramento screening? I only ask because what if the 70mm indeed did have a few differences like in ESB which have been reported over the years- this, grappling hook, etc. If it were only the 70mm versions, it would explain why these never showed up on the theatrical bootlegs.
I find it odd that I remember the Biggs scene this way too but all I've seen are VHS tapes. Hmm. I might have to go rewatch them all some day.

It would be truly wonderful to get a transfer of this but it would also be something LFL would crack down on immediately.
Time machine or none of this happened. ;-)

I disagree with you. But to get to the same conclusion below are the two pics from the HomeTheaterForum with several other high profile official and unofficial ESB versions, new and old. The images are displayed randomly. View the end of the file names for answers. [Versions shown are: ESB_TP, ISOMIX, Flunk, 2004 DVD, BR-Preview-Before, 2006 GOUT, German HDTV, WookieGroomer, Adywan, Harmy, DJ_V3, BR-Preview-After]
Maybe you eyes are better then mine, but what color variation do you see between the HTF wampa pics?
The Biggs scene in the hangar was shown on TV programs over here in the UK before the movie came out just with on set audio. I remember finally getting to see the movie when it came over here and wondering why it wasn't in there. Back then i didn't have a Video recorder so i use to record everything that had any star wars material off the TV using my old hand-held tape recorder. I would listen to all these clips, interviews etc all the time and the Biggs scene was one of these. So it is possible that you may have seen this clip on TV
I, for one who remembers an extended Biggs scene, live in the States and was born in the 90's so I can't have seen it that way. In my case, it's likely my memory is distorting things or untrue.

Any remembrance of what program? Morning talk show, maybe coinciding with one of the actors interviews, or more of a local nightly news report? And i'm sure you've racked your brain for the whereabouts of those audio tapes. Hopefully a recording of these airing will surface.

Oh no, the one thing I was hoping from Empire was they would return the the really white Hoth colouring, that I remember from the old VHS days. If this is a blue Hoth like in the 2004 DVD, I will cry just that little bit (but will still power through the best movie of all time).

Sounds like it might have been part of a presskit for tv stations. Or perhaps a BBC crew visited the set?
There have been old 16mm clips on Ebay in the past with markings indicating they were for U.S. tv stations to use for reviews of the movie.

Actually, Hoth was originally blue, when seen in theaters. This was proven by a vintage theatrical bootleg and Puggo's 16mm preservation. In fact one of none's pictures is from the theatrical bootleg. When in theaters, it was a much darker/nicer cast of blue than the 2004 versions which look an odd shade of cyan. Personally I like a white Hoth as well; I believe Adywan's Theatrical Reconstruction and AVCHD have it this way.
