More Clone War Cartoons
Wed, Jun 02, 04 09:08:15 AM EDT

Princess Leia tells us that 20 new Clone Wars episodes are signed for and will debut in the Spring of 2005, just prior to the release of Episode III. We would speculate that the animators will get to see the final movie at a screening shortly and develop the plot closely tied to the new movie. We're also hearing that a Clone Wars DVD release is a pending announcement, though we're not sure if both "seasons" will be included or first only. More soon!

YES!!!!!

And, Hal, don't worry about having time to do them. They finished the first 20 pretty quickly and I'm of the opinion that they already have draft versions of the next 20 ready to go. I don't think they'd allow themselves to be committed to a timeline if they didn't know they could get it done.

How long can it take to create an hour cartoon. I mean they make whole seasons of the Simpsons in the same amount of time. I think the best way to do the next 20 is 21-30 in November and 31-40 in March. Also I think they should hold back the DVD release to include all 40 as one two hour Star Wars movie.

I, too, like that idea for a release schedule except that I would bump it up a month. If the final 10 come out in February, then the DVD can come out in late March/early April with just enough time for the second half of May release of Ep 3.

And, if I recall right, traditional animation would take upwards of an hour per frame of movement (that does not include backgrounds, just the active motion cell overlays. This could be sped along by the reuse of certain cells of animation which I'm sure happened on occasion in the original 20 episodes. Not enough to be noticeable to us, but enough to ease the time constraints on the animators.

It's good to always have Master Sifo-Dyas on the watch

I'll bet they're going to make another series (cartoon? live action?) after EIII to "fill the void" between sagas.

I just "love" the way LFL plays with us:
"No more [insert SW-license product name here], ever. No. Nie. Nein. Niet. Get it?"
...and after some time...
"OK, so you'll get some more [insert SW-license product name here] from us, but that's it. Don't ask again."
...and after some time...

...
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

Ideally that's how it will work with the OT DVDs.

According to the bits Clone Wars DVD isn't planned until after Episode 3 hits theaters. Probably summer 2005. Long wait but if they do the DVD right as one two hour Star Wars movie then I can wait. Absolute specifications for DVDs

Anamorphic encoding
5.1 surround
the commentaries from hyperspace
Some decent video extras of some kind
Ability to watch all 40 as one animated movie without title intros.

Here I figured that the Clone Wars DVD would be the perfect thing to release as a "whet your appetite" sort of thing just before the release of Ep 3. Kinda like how New Line was releasing the EEs of the LOTR movies just before the next theatrical release. For those who weren't able to catch it on Cartoon Network or online, catching up with the story on DVD would be ideal. Just my two Lincolns.

Yeah, and they could always pull a Universal and include a ticket to Ep III with the Clone Wars DVD, just like Uni did with The Mummy (for the Mummy Returns), Van Helsing, and the new release of Pitch Black.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Following the immense success of the first 20 chapters of the animated Star Wars: Clone Wars micro-series, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Cartoon Network will continue the saga with five new expanded chapters beginning March 21, 2005.

Once again helmed by Genndy Tartakovsky, Star Wars: Clone Wars continues where Chapter 20 left off, but in a new format. Whereas previous installments were just three minutes long, each new chapter will be 12 minutes, promising viewers four times the excitement, adventures and intrigue as they lead into the long-awaited finale to the saga, Star Wars: Episode III.

Five 12 minute chapters. I can deal with that. I like this idea. I prefer longer episodes to multiple short ones. I am sure they will fit plenty of Episode 3 promotion with these. I hope they do a free Episode 3 ticket in Clone Wars DVD.

What, Jimbo, you don't want to support George Lucas's latest artistic undertaking?
Just giving you a hard time, Jimbo. As I said before, your viewpoint is a necessary counter-voice on these boards.

A season three of Clone Wars? I haven't even seen the whole of season two. I was watching them online, since I always managed to miss them on Cartoon Network, but after they finished the last episode, Lucasfilm thought they had to make the episodes a Hyperspace-only thing. Money-grubbing buggers.

My comment reminded me to go and check to see if they had maybe opened up the Clone Wars episodes, but alas, they haven't. Now what do I do? Does anybody know how else I can view them?

I was also pissed off when Clone Wars left the free website. He would still make money if an Episode 3 ticket was included since I will probably see it in the theater more then once. Still I will be happy see more Clone Wars.

Exactly how much is it to become a member of Hyperspace?
I'm a member but have no idea how much I'm paying?!
No wonder I'm always skint, and with a baby on the way too!?!?

Yeah, it would be worth it to have the free ticket...I resolutely never go see a movie more than twice, and I'll probably end up going to see Episode III a couple of times (though not evening prices...I cringe when I have to pay $8.00 to see a movie in the theatre). Fortunately, my hometown theatre is $5.00 for regular admission and $3.50 for matinees.

Hot Rod...I think Hyperspace is going for like $50.00 a year now, since they're incorporating the Fan Club with it. And their treatment of the free members keeps getting worse.

I'd never pay 50 bucks a month just to be able to see Georgie Lucas ruining SW forever.

And the first rule of Fan Club is... you do not talk about fan club.
