I am quite certain I saw the full Biggs reunion in the theater multiple times mid-1977. Unlike the hook, the Biggs scene isn't an incidental thing, but a lengthy scene with significant dialogue.  I don't expect people to believe me, but I don't mind... I'm confident my memory will be vindicated someday!

Strange how I recall it so vividly as well. I hope my memory isn't playing tricks on me, which it has and that time it was also a vivid memory. :-(

I saw it sometime between 2002 and 2005, thinking that "Luke's father" was the AOTC version of Anakin. I remember being quite fascinated about it for some time. It was actually what really inspired me to think about how Episode IV really came first and the film makers didn't really know how they would eventually portray Luke's father in the prequels. I started wondering about production history... then being intrigued by an unaltered VHS... then wanted to learn more about getting unaltered versions.. I suppose it inadvertently led to a chain of events which led me to this site...... jeez and I can't even find it.

It's ironic how a lie your memory plays on you can lead to so much...

I remember seeing it on a TV in widescreen, the exact same angle as in the Special Edition. I distinctly remember the Pilot's line "I knew you're father. He was the best starpilot in the galaxy," then he later said, "If you're half as good as he is, you'll be all right."

If anyone's curious, at my disposal, I had the Faces Laserdiscs, the Widescreen Special Edition VHSes, the 1990 Trilogy Box Set, the mid-1980's CBS/Fox issues, From Star Wars to Jedi, and the 2004 set.
