I'd like to request that someone get access to this on facebook and keep us updated on progress.  I'm just curious if he'll ever deliver on his promises...

Jeepers... I was quite the jerk just then, wasn't I? Golly, I feel awful, and I apologize to all I offended.

Truth is, I wasn't really upset about the lack of updates on my thread. It was deeper than that. I was really upset because last week I ran over my new kitten when backing out of my driveway. RIP Darth Hairball! I will dedicate this edit to your furry little sweet memory!

Anyways, I's sorry guys.

See Bingo, he did apologize. ;)

So, anyone on Facebook keeping tabs on this?  Anything ever come of it?

Of course he may have found a home at digital-fanedits.... Home of the "It's my toy, and I'm taking it home!" club.

Judging by all the post deletions in this thread, he's probably deleted it on Facebook by now as well.

Author

I don't see it on digital-fanedits... He probably thinks he's too good for it as well. Is he on fanedit.org, Frink?

Author

I guess he's really just disappeared. So much for another fan edit. The parallels to Antimatter are absolutely uncanny but I don't think this guy's even going to release his edit.

Author

Yeah, at least Antimatter followed through on his promises.

This.

Just noticed that he decided to blank all his posts... Ugh. I find this quite an obnoxious process as it makes it far harder to follow a thread when re-reading it.He probably wanted to protect his YouTube videos. I wouldn't be surprised if they were even removed from YouTube.

Out of curiosity, would blanking many posts be warrant for banning, or did JediTray do something else?

EDIT: I found his YouTube videos. There was a link on his profile page. He used some of Adywan's footage. There are two videos one for A New Hope and another for Empire Strikes Back.

JediTray got a warning first, and the a temp ban?  I can't remember.  Anyway, I'm guessing Moth3r figured there was no point if the guy isn't coming back anyway.

Either that or he missed what happened.

True. As said before, his videos are on YouTube, though they were both uploaded two years ago so he probably doesn't want to continue publicly anymore.

Oh thanks for finding it, Adywan. Still, you're right. Nothing's happening. The only conversation I see is with a relative of his: note Riley Satterwhite saying "Uncle steven."

Wow. I never came back to read this page until now. Looks as if I was right to leave after all. Apparently, two sentences taken out of context by one person is enough to make several people here get down and dirty rude and insulting. I do not apologize to those people. You are wastes of my time. The others who followed this, I only apologize for not updated elsewhere, not erasing the posts. I said on the very first post that I was an extremely personal person which is why I worked on this edit on and off for two years before even posting it. I found that without motivation, my schooling, work and family life would forever deny me the ability to finish this edit. I went ahead and posted here so as to get input and hopefully to know that others may have cared if it were ever completed (which is a very good motivator indeed).

The last post of mine, which was so cleverly quoted and then used to disparage me, was actually about something quite different than what you were made to believe. I had several days off work and found that I was bored at working on this edit for my own sake (a common occurrence). I figured I would spend the weekend and a few more days working solely on  ANY requested scene that some one person might have always wanted to see inserted or fixed or whatnot from ANH. I was going to use the 5 or 6 days to work, not for myself, but for you, hence the quote "Ask or you shall not receive." I also had made mention that I didn't want to choose from just one or two requests in case they weren't exactly something I either COULD do or if the idea was just absurd or something of that nature. No one had been responding to almost any of my posts, hence "If feels like I'm talking to an empty room". "Taking it elsewhere" was also covered since I said I came to this site for the sake of input and motivation. To say I came here for praise is asinine considering I said absolutely nothing of the sort in any of my posts leading to this one particular post. As a matter of fact, I pride myself on my good manners and ability to defer to others, which I felt I did with the utmost respect.

I deleted the posts, as I knew I always would, the second my thread became anything less than positive and fun. After I had made the gesture of spending my time working to do a really cool scene for someone, the very first response I received, which has now been edited btw, was extremely rude and hateful. One is all it takes with me. My response was "No problem". I do not owe anyone anything. This has and remains an edit for the sole satisfaction of me and my son.  My edit is complete except for waiting for the blurays to come out so I can see what they have to offer. I will share the edit with those who want it, and judging by this thread, that number will be very few thankfully.

The only edit I follow is Ady's. This is the first time I've been back and from what I gather he's still chugging away, 3 1/2 years later. I look forward to his release which will of course be a labor of love. I get that about him. Too bad some of you do not understand that about me. This is a labor of love so that the Star Wars my son grows up with will not include things like Greedo shoots first, falling Jawas or that a slight list to the left is what constitutes a maneuver.

Oh, and to all the people who thinks this stuff is easy.... please, I'd love to see yours that you've been hiding from all of us.

~Steven

You might want to hide your real name from that facebook page that everyone can see, if that's the case.

Hello Darth Stewie. As was said before by Bingowings and even Adywan himself, very eloquently I must say, the lack of responses was not because we did not care for the edit, but because we thought that the direction you were headed in was fine and that complimenting you was unnecessary. There are many users here who just look at threads and don't even post a single comment, so a better way to judge whether your edit is getting attention is by sheer number of views. I, for one, was part of those who did comment on it, and I even remarked that I would be interested at the final outcome. As the thread went on, I didn’t comment as much, solely because I no longer had anything to say, and I can assume others did the same. We often take it for granted that fan editors feel enough support and motivation that there need not be too many comments. All your videos looked wonderful and an interesting new take on Star Wars.

In my honest opinion, perhaps an error on your part was deleting your posts. I vaguely remember your “empty room” post and I am sorry, but your generous intentions were completely lost in the post. It’s good that now you’ve actually clarified what you meant, but other members reacted to how it superficially sounded, which did seem a bit rude. Quite a few members here were genuinely interested in your workings but by your decision to move, most were genuinely confused, especially with no posts left. Once deleted, many people had no idea what happened and assumed you had just left abruptly. Naturally people did get a little antsy from being suddenly deprived of an edit which did indeed look very promising. Maybe because of an uncannily similar, noticeable incident, involving a rather distasteful individual, named Antimatter, who wanted nothing more than the spot light even though he was getting a lot, people automatically assumed you attitude was similar. This may have been unjust on our part but you left no evidence to the contrary.

You must understand that when you abruptly left originaltrilogy and moved to Facebook; it seemed you did this to get your own private place, which is what the other guy did. Also, people who don’t like leaving this site did not care to follow you; this actually gave you less of the motivation which you seek.As I pointed out, your only conversation on your Facebook edit page seemed to be with a relative; it seemed you just were looking for a private arena. We didn’t even consider the fact that you may enjoy the privacy.

In any case, with your newfound clarification of your past actions, more people might understand your reasons for leaving. I don’t think anyone didn’t want to see your edit; everyone was excited and ready to comment when you blatantly asked for it. However, your sudden departure and lack of updates elsewhere did paint a rather bad picture of you and inadvertently did cause some stirring. I do have one tip of advice, the website digital-fanedits.com is really not a good place to share your edit. It was made by the user I mentioned earlier who left solely because he wasn’t getting attention; and yes in his case, it was completely clear.

Feel free to share it with us here at originaltrilogy.com or fanedit.org, as there probably are still people interested if you would do us the honor of some more clarification on your untimely departure since, between deleted posts and unclear follow ups, your intent did get quite muddled. Bad feelings may have been stirred up unjustly due to sheer appearances.

Honestly, I found the clarifications to be more like excuses...or revisionist history, if you like.

And he admits that he planed on deleting all his posts from the beginning, which is really disrespectful to everyone who reads the thread, and as mentioned before is grounds for a banning.

And what was with that comment about people thinking this was so easy?

To be absolutely honest, I don't fully remember his posts because of his faux pas of deleting all of them, and, if he could reinstate his posts somehow, that would make everything much more clear. However, if he indeed just completely, utterly poorly worded his departure posts, then he deserves to make that, especially if it's the truth (which we'll probably never completely deny/verify). Maybe it is revisionist truth but there is the other hand.

What was with that comment about people thinking this was so easy?

Yeah, that was probably just an emotional comment thrown in there. I just skipped over it... A calm, cool and thoroughly composed response is what I hope will eventually be given.

Deleting the posts was mistake number one.

Not coming back and clearing the air was mistake number two.

There were people genuinely rooting for you on here Stewie and you threw a tantrum.

Nothing too wrong with that, as long as you don't make a habit of it, I think even the best of us have done it in some form over the years.

Afterwards all you had to do was come back and apologise and you'd still be getting help on here.

If you don't want or need our input, why start the thread?

If you expect nothing but sugar and cuddles on the internet you aren't going to get much out of it (at times even Ady gets close to snapping point with the nonsense he gets thrown at him so a thick skin is essential when you put what you do up for scrutiny) but before you went on your deleting spree you were getting nothing but positive help and constructive criticism.

If you want to continue here I recommend that you replace what you can from your self mutilated thread and carry on posting but expect nothing.

Over time you may find people will forgive and forget, make new suggestions and your project will be better for it.

If you don't want to continue with this thread good luck with your project and hopefully I will get a chance to see it complete sometime in the future.

Wow, this is really too bad. I am very interested in this edit, and based on people's responses to the OP's posts, it is someting to get excited about. It's too bad that the OP deleted his posts, because I would have certainly liked to see what was in his edit.

Does anyone know where I can find some screens of this edit?

I think if you go to the facebook page and like it or something (sorry, I'm not a facebook user) you can get access to some of his work.

You can find two rough mock ups. He mentioned he was finished with the edit and just wanted to see what the Blu-Ray could offer so it may be released soon enough...

Yeah, what harm would it do if you used your thread to post updates on your progress
