Alec Guinness Films Fully restored In HD (also getting a fresh cinema run).

It's not Star Wars sadly but if these much older films are being shown in their original form (the added material for the American market is removed from Kind Hearts And Coronets) come on George, audiences can cope with a 1977 film looking like it was made in 1977.

Nice move Ealing (now go and make some good new films).

Oh that's good news. Most of Guinness's films were classics, and, as they are older, probably well deserving of full restoration. Hopefully, the restorations are not too invasive, as previous ones for old movies have been (*cough* James Bond *cough* Star Wars *cough*).

Still, I'm disappointed that we won't see the first time Alec Guinness play a ghost in HD:

I watched the "Man in the White Suit" the other night. Glad they're preserving such films.

! :)

The more classics preserved, the better off preservation is. And these are timeless treasures.

Now let's get the priceless classic screwballs restored!

Pro tip: next time, clear your cache and refresh the page...if you still see it, everyone else should be able to as well.

I still don't know how to clear my cache.

I just cross my fingers.

I think several use CTRL-F5 (firefox for sure) to clear the cache, but they should all be able to do it through the menu system as well.

I own Bridge on blu-ray. Probably one of the few Alec Guinness movies I've seen.

What browser do you use?

The fox of fire.

It's been a while but on Firefox I'd imagine Clear Recent History, in Tools (with Cache enabled) would do the necessary.

Sony has been working on it for years. 8K scan and all. Robert Harris has said it's been in the pipeline for some time and that he was consulted and involved in the process. Could finally be a home version somewhat worthy!

How......................................................................dare you? ;) I haven't seen the Blu yet, but I know it will look weirder after seeing it for all the years in the improper 2.35 DVD/VHS. They should have included mono though.
