There's a thread around here somewhere that covers this stuff.

It's the one with the D&D books. Odd, it doesn't look like he uses it very often. He must have everything in his ThinkGeek wish list.TV's Frink said:

I'm curious, [CE](3?)[PR](3?)(i?)[CSX]/i, which solutions to the Tranquility Lane, Oasis, and Pitt quests did you go with and why?
Tranquility lane was so extremely cool to me, I saved the game and played around with it to complete every scenario I possibly could. Oasis, I don't remember very well, but I know I did whatever the talking tree wished me to do. I found that place after I had played the game quite a lot and my interest was starting to wind down for a bit, otherwise I probably would have played around with it more. And the Pitt... I am trying to remember all the details of its storyline. I killed the leader in the crazy tribal power armor, I stole the baby, then found out what they wanted to do with it... and talked them out of it. So they raised it rather than harvesting it.
Getting mildly excited for Deus Ex 3 next week. Really hoping it doesn't suck.
I did like Deus Ex 2 though and it would seem that most people don't - or pretend to never happened.
I'm a little concerned about the sepia heavy colour palette - hoping that doesn't make my eyeballs scream after a few hours.
Got to play a bit of Goldeneye on the Wii today and I was impressed - I'm actually interested in a 360 version now when I wasn't really before - I find the wiimote very touchy and my aiming was all over the place but I slowly got used to it. I only played through some of the dam level and some training but it was fun and it looks like they've injected a lot of new stuff to keep it fresh.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think this might be awesome.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to it as well... but is it DX3 or DX0?
I thought DX2 was a disappointment, but I still really liked it. DX2 on it's worst day was still DX and pretty darn amazing.
COKE AND PEPSI ARE THE SAME THING!
DX1 though... that really was something cool. Did you check out the video for that E.Y.E video I posted the other day? It looks like it had a lot of cool DX-ish elements that just don't quite mesh. Too bad.

If we could just make this the rule of law, we could get rid of all the lawyers!
I guess DX 3 is DX0.
I never really got into DX1 when it was fresh - it came out at a time before I had a computer good enough to run it.
I got DX2 as soon as it came out and played through it a fair bit. I did get annoyed by some things but it was still a fun ride.

Oh man, I was between jobs when DX1 GotY came out. I actually had a job, but I didn't start it for 3 months. I played DX1 like it was my job. I probably even put in overtime. I don't know how many hours... but maybe 2 weeks of 8-10 days. Those were the days...

I did that once with the Sega Genesis Phantasy Star games. Although in my case I had decided to wait two months before looking for a job.
For this lazy guy, it was the best two months ever.
Fallout 3 update:
Well, I'm all but done with the core Fallout 3. I've only got the last mission (Take it Back!) to go on... and a handful of this-n-that's that I want to finish up. I have some teddy bears to take to the Pitt, I need to go escort an 18 year old to Big Town and I've never actually been in Vault 106. I guess I could drop by Reilly's Rangers and get paid (because 15k in caps is apparently not enough). And I have a lot of fingers I could turn in...
When I was back in Vault 101, I was having visions of how great a Fallout TV series would be. The mystery of the vaults, the brutal wasteland.
That could be some fantastic TV.

Like my (hopefully) annual all nighter weekend... I'd be in real trouble if that was my constant behaviour... but I think I can get away with it once a year.

I was very glad I chose "Child at Heart" before going to Little Lamlight. Getting into the town by choosing "Your Face Looks Like My Butt" was definitely worth it.

That was one thing I loved so much about the game. Outside of the main storyline, it felt like a collection of short, mostly unconnected, serials. Kind of like a twilight zone type series of strange tales, but interconnected throughout a small region of wasteland.
That was another disappointment of New Vegas for me, everything felt a lot more connected, even side missions; making for a much tighter narrative. Everyone in the game seemed concerned about the same basic things as everyone else ("The Legion's coming and is going to kill us!" "Ohs no! The NCR is too weak to hold off the Legion! I sure wish they'd send us more re-enforcements!" "We're thinking about allying with the Legion to save ourselves from their impending invasion." "I am a member of the Legion, and our invasion of the Mojave desert is impending!" "I am just a trader, lived in the Mojave all my life, but I am preparing to hightail it out of this region prior to the impending invasion of the Legion." "There is an impending invasion from the Legion coming! We should run!" "The Legion's invasion is impending, our tribe is trying to decide if we are with the Legion or the NCR." "I am a Legion Legionnaire, our invasion is impending and will happen very soon, eventually you'll have to join us or die." And so on).
I liked how in the first one everyone had their own troubles and concerns, and very few were aware of the bigger picture stuff. In New Vegas you'll meet a few groups like this, but for the most part everyone is all bothered about the whole Legion/NCR conflict and almost everything in the game revolves around that.
Xhonzi, have you been to the small town (more like neighborhood) of Andale yet? It is one of my favorite examples of how brilliant FO3 can be from a storytelling standpoint. With just a small handful of NPCs, a few hundred words a dialogue, and a small number of generic buildings they managed to deliver a very engaging story for the player to uncover. Or, you could just as easily stumble upon it, see a fairly boring tiny little settlement, and breeze on by without ever learning a thing about the place. Forgot how much I loved that game! All those people that claim FO:NV is ten times the game FO3 was must not have played much beyond the story missions.

No... I just did a google search for "best unmarked quests" and that kept coming up. Trying to make a list of unmarked things I want to do before I'm done.

I even broke off my relationship with him because of his lack of dedication to FO3 at one point in some previous episode of As The Death Star Turns.
Ah, well, when you guys start talking about any video game newer than 1997, my eyes start to glaze over.

Wow, I really enjoyed the Finale to Fallout 3. Liberty Prime was pretty sweet. A nice way to go out.
The "ending" video was pretty clunky. I don't think it was any different for having the DLC installed... but it seemed to be like 10 small endings. And it skipped over a lot of the more "important" things I did... kind of reminded me of the ending of Return of the King for some reason.
I think I'll finish the things I wanted to do around the Wasteland and knock out Broken Steel... then I think I might take a break before diving in to Zeta and Lookout. I've really been enjoying myself, but fatigue is starting to creep in.

W...T...F?
Oh my god. That's awful.
Speaking of which, I read a book about the incident, fittingly entitled Columbine.
It was an interesting read, and VERY well-written.
Anyway, back to video games. I picked up The Third Birthday for free a few days ago.

If the DLC isn't installed, the game ends with you dying in the chamber. Unless you made the Brotherhood of Steel girl go in there to take care of it for you.
If you have the Broken Steel DLC installed, then as you saw, they retcon the ending and have you wake up from a coma. If you beat the game without any DLC installed the first time like I did, then once you install Broken Steel you have to load a save right before the end of the game (which I had), or play back up to that point to access the DLC which automatically starts right after the ending.
