Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!) — Page 186

Yeah, I think the Blu-rays will probably show how awful the beak looks. I don't actually mind the concept of the beak all the much, although I prefer the Sarlaac without it... but the actual beak as presented in 1997 (and unchanged since) looks bad.

They probably should have updated that for the '04 or now. Shouldn't they have? Now it sticks out like a sore beak.

Just under a month until these street.

I bet screenshots will start surfacing any day now.

It comes out even earlier worldwide... I honestly don't know why US gets it 4 days later.

No reviewer will dare criticize this release. They're all going to gush over "SW on blu-ray finally!" because they could otherwise lose opportunities for future advance discs from 20th Century Fox or Lucasfilm.

It's going to be unanimous praise across the board. Just look at these reviews for the 2004 dvds. It's laughable, man!

I have a bad feeling about this. You're probably absolutely right... Who'd risk defying George Lucas? I suppose the later US date will allow all you non-US people here to warn us.

For those who haven't seen it (there's a thread over in the SW preservation forum), some LFL reps will be on Home Theater Forum, and will be answering questions about the upcoming Blu-ray release:

"We will have the opportunity later this week to talk with Dennis Muren the Creative Director of ILM about the VFX of the Star Wars films, Matthew Wood of Skywalker Sound about the audio mix for the Blu-rays and Kayleen Walters from Lucasfilm Ltd about the Blu-rays.

What do YOU want to know?"

If you're not already a member of HTF, now might be a good time to join, to put in your 2 cents:

Exactly. You know a couple of months later, they'd refer to the 2004 releases as "flawed sets, with horrible colors and terrible audio. And Hayden as a ghost? Really George!?!?"

Same exact shit will happen with these Blu Rays.

Hopefully someone will ask (and get a decent answer to) about the new transfer and whether the new 6.1 lossless DTS track still has the same mistakes from the 2004 DVDs

I know someone who would LOVE to ask about the DTS track.

Yes.  You may not have heard, but John Tesh is recording a new commentary for the set.

Is somebody checking the comments on YouTube ?

The best voted comments are personal insults on Adywan, and all comments which defend him are hidden, because they "received too many negative votes". The interesting thing is that most of the people (actually ALL which I checked till now) have registered on youtube ONLY to write these insults. Could these guys be LFL employees ? Any ideas ?

What an asinine assumption. Ridiculous ideas like this are what give us a bad name... well, aside from Adywan ;). All Ady-related jokes aside, some people are just really passionate about Star Wars and express it in different ways than we do. Some people think he's bastardized it, you know, the same way some think Lucas's SEs have. The internet just reminds us how inarticulate and hurtful people truly can be.

Yep!

The scene in which he was in was cut though. The scene will be on the blu-ray, with fixed colars and Dolby sound.

Here is a screeny from the scene in which he and Boba Fett play hockey.

Why is adywan even being brought into this?

Probably because of his blu-ray.com activities.

I heard mentioned in this thread that the deleted scenes could be in the same kind of letterboxed SD as the 2006 GOUT. In the trailers for the deleted scenes, however, they appear to be in anamorphic...

It's certain members over at blu-ray.com. The same bunch that like to throw personal insults like little kids in a playground.
