Firstly, to oh-original, Those Sparks work fantastic! They work subtly but I actually wouldnt mind seeing them a little less subtle out of interest. I don't believe every new edit has to be too subtle so as not to upset fans. ie, Adys Hoth scene, its a completely new shot almost but it works fantastically.

 

And to Angel, after a long time of seeing your icon/thumbnail. For some reason I thought it was some butterfly or Angel image, didnt realize it was the view through Vaders mask. Haha. Cant believe i missed that. Anyway, I'm so glad I did, because it led me down a loooong spiral and into your work on your Devientart page, those Star Wars mockup scenes are absolutely STUNNING mate!

I plowed through every one and I bloody love em! Anyone that has not seen them, I urge you to check them out. Could do with a dedicated page on this site to show them all off. I would kill to see the whole films done with those shots, just out of curiosity.

I'm not hot on the gas mining facility, it doesn't seem to move right. Other than that, its great! I love continuity!

Is that the doohickey in the lower left during the first shot of the approach to Cloud City?  It didn't look like it was moving to me so much as the camera was moving, making it appear to move (if that made sense).

But I'm not even sure if I'm looking at the right thing.

That's the one. It just looks like a zoom rather than a camera move past it. It'll work.

Also, to be nitpicky, the reflection at the end of the hall before the cut to the elevator shot is still the pre-SE version. Not sure how much Ady could do with it though.

I like the new dynamic establishing shot of Cloud City as well as the added cloud cars right before they enter the dining room. Though I'm a little iffy about the facial movements added to the ugnaught. Other than that, great work all around and thanks for the new clip. =)

Looks great! While I was watching the clip, I also saw on YouTube the lightsaber comparison video (I had missed that one before) -- it looks beautiful. This is why I am so excited for this edit.

It's a very nice shot, the quality is excellent, but I agree the gas mine doesn't work very well. As for Cloud City, it might be big but it still should come forward independent of the clouds behind it. As is it looks like clouds moving in front of a static backdrop.

i actually hadn't noticed Ugnaught's facial movements the first time. it didn't stand out to me. it's so subtle it's almost as if the original mask had enough flexibility for the actor to move his mask.

I dont like the blury black patch at the bottom right on dagobah . It might need slight more texture.

Very grand and impressive establishing shot. Some more distant traficking would be ideal but thats me.

I love that the sky finaly has continuity in the CG flyby shots. never got why they changed a sky so much after passing through the building

I like the new sky/BG replacement in the corridor but i think due the exposure of the shot the sky should be less visible to its original colors and be more white. Only to that shot because its daylight.

It might be a test but when the heroes are passing the circle window there is a black patch on a building.

Also when we cut in the close up of chewie the buildings are different. Again it might be an unfinished shot

Very awesome work on the opening the elevator shot. I like the new reflections on the glass

But there are the main problem. The edges. Even in this quality something is wrong with the edges are blury comparing with the rest of the shot.

I know you did your best to reconstruct the details because of the original blown up whites on the buildings but the edges when the building ends and the sky starts are blury.

Remember that all the edges on the film have that small halo (similar to the heavy one on TMP) that adds that film look. Or when the film burns from some effects like over exposure etc.

*old mockup dont mind. Focus on the edges and how they blend with the rest of the edges.*

In the shot of vader disarms han the building in the newly opened shot is very blury as well when the stormtroopers are comming. Nice to have DOF but almost all the distant buildings were just hazed never blured.

I like the new laser bolts

Cool info Angel.  I could see this application being useful in colour correcting a series of shots in Star Wars fan edits and preservations (i.e., the Tantive IV hallway in ANH, which seems to change hue from one shot to the next).  I was particularly interested in the de-blurring application -- I wonder if the GOUT could be matched up with the blu-rays to produce a sharpened GOUT image using this method.

I'd like to address another teeny tiny fixer-upper I've mentioned before. It's easily taken care of with trimming a couple of frames:

Around 2:08 in the clip after Lando says: "Everyone is invited of course", you see Han walking up, offering his arm and Leia turning her head towards him. However, in the closer shot the head turning is repeated.

Just curious: Ady, have you already test shot your models by any chance?

Ive done a couple of tests just to see how well the camera performs filming miniatures and its pretty good from what i can tell. But i need to get some extra lighting because you have to throw hell of a lot of light at them just to get the correct exposure, so i can't do a full test until i have the correct lighting..

There will be no  ore videos posted to youtube any more. there are a bunch of idiots (from blu-ray.com) that have decided to be complete assholes and block disliking all my videos, reporting them as inappropriate and for copywrite breaches and creating multiple accounts and flooding my inbox with crap and threats and stupid ass comments. and if anyone backs me up they all gang up and give multiple thumbs down which hides everyone comments.  Youtube makes it that you can't see all the ones that are doing this so you can block then, so stuff youtube.

I like reading hate, so would love to read these types of comments, if you do repost them in thread here for example, people might be able to spot typing habits and could out these people.  But that takes effort and I understand it's more often not worth giving these people more of your time.  They'll fade after the release.

It is fascinating watching people get enjoyment out of censoring the speech of others.  (yeah it's not censoring really, the comments still there...)
