I knew there was something I didn't like about you.
Well, let out your disdain at the action figures by cutting off their limbs and weapons ;)
Wait... you want me to mutilate my own action figures in some attempt to "get at you"?
Now there are two of them things I don't like about you!

It really sucks that this is what fandom has devolved into. It seems like everyone is either a total hater or a total gusher and it really sucks to be floating in the middle drifting back and forth like a plastic bag in the wind from TFN to OT.com helplessly trying to find a place to fit in as the polarized world of Star Wars fandom rips itself in two.
Darth Bizarro, I blame the prequels for the schism - not the fans. I agree with much of what twooffour writes for once. While you may not be calling for a united fandom, as you explain below, I don't think you can expect less passion from fans:
I don't see Doctor Who fans who prefer the old and new serials throwing jelly babies back and forth at one another. They may not all agree, but they at least can get along and accept each other's differences in their fandom.
There is a good example in Doctor Who as to the kind of split we're talking about. For purposes of analogy, imagine if there were only two series of Doctor Who. Imagine that fans got to know and love Doctor Who via Tom Baker. They were excited when the learned there would be a new series. And Colin Baker happened. There would be a rift between fans. There would be gushers and haters. There would be those who recognize the new series' flaws but enjoy the time traveling police box (despite its occupant) just as PT fans get excited by seeing lightsabers and Yoda.
The fact that Doctor Who is a TV serial which has featured many different doctors and many episodes dilutes that kind of fight. Even in a 2 Doctor universe, fans could have the realistic hope of a 3rd Doctor to redeem the show. Movies are a different kind of animal. Doing a movie episode wrong is different than doing a TV episode (or even series) wrong.
The blue elephant in the room.

I actually have no idea whatsoever. Do go on.

I assume he's referring to this.
LOL, I'd almost forgotten how weird that thread was...
I agree with Puggo. "Resent" is the word I would choose. Yes, the prequels are pretty awful, but I do sometimes enjoy watching them (although I probably haven't watched any of them in at least two years). What causes my resentment is the fact that they are infiltrating the other movies. People like Katie Lucas bitch at us and say that if we don't like it, we can just ignore it. But, no, we can't. Not when the only modern release of the original trilogy is trying to shove prequel crap down our throats.

Ah, I'm sure you're right. I didn't make the connection because I didn't fix those figures out of rage. I fixed them to make them make sense.
To preserve... not to tear down.
Construction. Not mutilation.

You deprived Yoda of his Saber. You don't deprive a Jedi of their Saber. Their weapon is their life.
Has nothing to do with "fixing", either...
I also cut the minigun out of Ghandi action figure's hands.

Speaking of resentment where are the fans who want the 1997 special editions and theatrical prequels to be preserved, i do agree the oot should come first but Lucas lack of releasing any theatrical version of any of his films is kind of beyond bizarre, i add into the mix American graffiti and thx 1138.
You want the opiginal director approved versions of THX 1138 and American Graffiti they are not even on DVD, only laserdisc and Vhs.
Even Star Wars got a lousy Laserdisc port but that is more love than was shown those other films.

The prequels were doomed from the start. We already know what happens. We already know who lives, and who dies.
It's hard to get in to a sequence with, say, Obi-Wan Kenobi, because we know that he lives, so he can't die. It's hard to get into a movie when you already konw what happens.
Apollo 13 and Titanic come to mind of knowing the outcome before I walked into the theater. Both were very good movies, IMO.

Exactly. If the Star Wars Saga consisted of the OOT and PT for the fans, then many of us wouldn't even care about the PT the same way I don't care about Godfather III.
But the fact that this BluRay release will feature Hayden in ROTJ, the PT IS apart of the OT now.

And for people like myself who actually like Return of the Jedi that is a big problem, especially since the less violated version that was still mutilated the 1997 is not even on DVD.
Hayden in Jedi possibly worse than Jedi Rocks.

Yep, perfect. I really do want a theatrical prequel set as well. I put off seeing Graffiti for years because I didn't want my introduction to not be the theatrical version. I never plan to watch THX 1138 if it's not the original, due to its changes being so drastic. What is with that Lucas guy anyway?

At the risk of being shot dead, there are a lot of PT-era books when, taken in context with the films, really go a long way towards explaining a lot of the things that were poorly handled in the PT.
Keep Circulating the Tapes.

The purpose of this thread is laughable and incomprehensible. Why would someone who hates the prequels, go to TF.N, specifically to the PT forum, and see how some users comment about those films? And then say those comments are "excuses for how bad the prequels are", as if that was some kind of fact.
Sigh...

Yes, and there are also other guys insisting how awesome Qui-Gon Jinn was and that makes the movie as good as ROTJ.
