I've had a HTF account for several years, so I had to go right over and speak my piece. My post:
As someone who has been one of George Lucas' best customers since the 1980s (I've lost count as to how many versions of the original Star Wars Trilogy I've purchased over the years from VHS to LD to DVD),
I feel I have a right as well as an obligation to put in my 2 cents.....
My only real concern about the upcoming blu-rays is why the 1977-1983 trilogy won't be included.
Other than that, I have no concerns nor questions about a set of films which are no longer the same films that changed the course of film history, won multiple Academy Awards, nor inspired my life-long love of film.
It is endlessly frustrating that films like Close Encounters and Blade Runner have blu-ray releases which include MULTIPLE versions of those films, films that while influential, are in no way as universally loved or revered as the '77-'83 Star Wars trilogy. Yet the films of THAT trilogy only exist on DVD (and now blu-ray, apparently) as single, yet ever-evolving, bastardized shadows of their former selves. Never mind the lack of regard for the fans who would prefer to watch the original, ground-breaking versions of these films in this wonderful new Blu-Ray format...
INSANE.
