My theater was pretty empty to begin with, and everyone in it except my friends and I were over 60, so it was pretty calm. I could definitely see how people would react to it badly if they didn't know what to expect though.
My dad was like that in some ways, but he's an Italian immigrant and that's how he was raised. But, like Jack, I eventually came to terms with that. But what I mostly meant was all the experiences - we saw Jack learn how to love, hate, pity, feel shame, and overall develop his personality and world outlook. It's amazing to see it all happening on screen, exactly as it happens in life.
Another thing, the special effects in the 'universe scene' were mind-blowing, especially considering they didn't use CGI to do it.
