First off, nice spelling of "sarcasm."
Last time it was "sacarsm" :D
This isn't a fucking thesis we're writing, it's how we PERSONALLY rate the films. I don't need to follow your "rules" for rating films.
I didn't instruct you to back up your rating or stop posting, though - I was just blown away by the rating and thougt I'd ask for your reasons, JUST IN CASE YOU FELT LIKE ANSWERING IT.
If you feel so offended by that, then that's too bad for you. But I was really just curious.
I rated based on my enjoyment, not on the academic theories of film-making.
Academics aside, most people, even on casual threads like this, tend to distinguish between how good a movie is, and how much one likes it, or enjoys.
The line is blurry, but the general idea is that people can enjoy a movie for its goodies, or nostalgia / personal connection, or camp, but whether it's a "well-made movie" is on another shelf.
Like, I assume you "enjoy" The Room, but you wouldn't give it a high rating?
What a surprise that you've basically called someone's "opinion" WRONG.
No, that's based on your sloppy reading. I said I FOUND your opinion POORLY JUSTIFIED. My post was subjective in nature, and was phrased as a question.
While opinions on movies can never be as "wrong" as factual statements (unless they're based on misrepresentation and bad memory), they can still be justified or unjustified to various degrees.
Like, someone saying Blade: Trinity is better than the Godfather probably hasn't given it much thought - even though there is a possibility they have. Which is why I posted an INQUIRY.
If you just wanna drink your beer and give ratings without getting into essays, just DON'T RESPOND TO IT and it's fine. Get the hell over it.
