Can I assume that works even if I've already killed dog meat?
Yes. And even if you kill him before the Broken Steel expansion is installed. I will even bring him back to life if you killed Dogmeat and never had him as a companion. I think it assigns a new name to each dog too, which is kind of cool.
Looking forward to it. Dog Meat's death remains my biggest regret. Though getting "him" back after 20 levels without him may not really make up for it. :(.....
I installed all of the DLC even though I've been ignoring it (as far as I know) for now.
Ah, didn't realize you had them already. Good.
Yeah, I think I told you- but I got the GotY edition. For $11. The price I was willing to pay was $30. I saw it once for $30, but had too many games and a wife who wasn't giving me any allowance. Then GameStop had it on sale for $18. I bought 3 $18 games (Just Cause 2 and Borderlands GotY) for the price of 2: $36, -10% for being a card carrying addict member +tax... roughly $11 apiece. I did have to call/stop by three different shops that each had one of the games... but they were all on my way home. When I did the "return and rebuy with the b2g1 coupon" at the last gamestop, the three clerks were pretty impressed. Those are each quite massive games. Especially when you throw in all of the DLC.
Come to think of it... I think maybe I shouldn't have started F03 while I was still playing Borderlands... Or at least, I had that thought when I interrupted my FO3 weekend to play Borderlands with Zombriend one last time before he moved (I thought you would approve of this distraction) and I had a harm remembering which was which- especially at the controller level.
On that note, any suggestions as to when to tackle the DLC? I assume most of you played it after the main game simply since you didn't have it whilst playing the main game. I've sort of naturally planned on doing the same thing.
Broken Steel came out shortly after I first beat the game. All the other DLC are just random little side stories, so those ones you could really do at any time. Broken Steel is the continuation of the main storyline and picks up immediately after beating the game (originally, the end of the game was the end, and you didn't continue on after).
The way I did it I think I got the maximum enjoyment out of it. I beat the game and did most there was to do, then every few months I'd have a new chapter along with new perks and content to look forward too. Was kind of pricey buying the DLC as it was released, but I think I enjoyed each one enough to be worth it.
So... you were playing the game as each DLC came out... you played Anchorage and Pitt as they came out, but didn't finish the actual game until just before Broken Steel came out? And then you played Broken Steel and Point Lookout and Mothership as each one came out, a couple of months apart?
There are currently three FO:New Vegas DLC's. WikiP tells me that at least two more are on the way and possibly as many as three more after that. So maybe I'll take my well earned break from Fallout after I finish 3 so that I can score a deal on the GotY edition of New Vegas.
I've had a stray thought to delete the Broken Steel DLC so I can experience the ending of the game without it. And then add it on later for the "authentic" experience. But I think I'm actually (literaly) too lazy to do that and I'll just youtube it. Suggestions? (I'm also worried that though I haven't "done" anything with the DLC, it might still create shenanigans with my save file...)
