Tone is something Lucas doesn't usually do well.

So his 'tone shift' reshoots don't fill me with optimism.

I wish he had tried this film himself before doing the PT.

Knowing that he couldn't drop CGI animals treading in poo into such a project might have reminded him of the power of restraint.

I still maintain that the WWI battle sequences (and the Box Set Documentaries) for Young Indiana Jones are the best things associated with him since 1981, largely because he really couldn't get away with allowing that to get screwed up and his heart, I felt was genuinely in that.

With George getting on in years, it could have been all his Color Purple/Private Ryan moments bundled into one project.

As it is now his reshoots this far down the line might now be seen as him meddling with what has now become someone else's work.

If it gets a Pearl Harbor type response, calls for a Director's Cut will probably get the same response that our calls for the OUT have.
