Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released) — Page 40

That looks real good. Yeah, thanks for going threw the whole scene.  I guess by now you can tell I hate those orange GI lasers.

I know somethings are not that big of a deal but is really cool if there is some way around to fix it. (like the escape pod.)

That over size beam that projects Leia's hologram in Ben's house, I  think the GOUT could be used for those two shots.  There is no real detail there.  Its just Leia talking.

Its funny I was going to ask when will we see a you tube video. Got home this morning and there was one.  Made my day.

I am going to look threw the whole movie on Tuesday to see if I can find anything else.

BTW,  outstanding work on the escape pod.  I didn't think you were going to be able to pull that one off.

Amazing you not just fixing thing you may have miss but improving other things as well.

Anyway, here's a new video:

It's just a test of concept, so I'd really like to hear your honest opinions. But I'm positive that done this way after DJ sends me the shot from his upscale and with some further tweaking, it can be a real improvement over the old version.

Are you kidding me? WOW Harmy, WOW! Not only is that a HUGE improvement, it just looks fucking amazing now. Thanks for putting so much effort into this shot and truly perfecting it, it's the most important shot in the entire Trilogy.

That DS explosion is a HUGE improvement harmy...and i thought the first was mind blowing.

Also harmy on the new sky and dunes with c3po the sky looks really blue especially compared with the other shots in that scene.  I guess what i'm trying to say is I thought the old shot of that fit in better to me.

Can't express myself better than that. I also like the idea of giving Harmy props in the signature.

Good news, everyone!!! I spent quite some time looking for the original 70s 20th Century Fox logo present in the original SW in HD and today, I got the original MASH movie on Blu and found out that it's there, so I'll be able to use it :-)

I already had the 80s Fox logo used in Jedi in HD from the D-Box Alien DC, so now I'll be able to use an actual HD Fox logo in SW as well.

Almost, if you want to be extra picky about it, that Fox logo lacks the registered trademark symbol that was added to it in the seventies. If you need an exact match in HD, the release of Alien on Blu-ray got it.

Haven't seen it in motion, but the speeder entering Mos Eisley looks almost perfectly restored on that still you provided, incredible! :)

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

Yeah, I noticed that trademark thing and the M*A*S*H logo isn't very good quality, in fact it doesn't look all that much better than DJ's upscale. I unfortunately don't have the new Alien Blu-Ray, only the D-Box version of the director's cut, which for some reason has the 80s logo. Could someone PLEASE send me the logo from the Alien Blu-Ray? Pretty please! :-)

And thanks. If you want to see it in motion, there is a YouTube clip here:

Here's an email I just received from a movie buff friend who I recommended your work to:

I am watching Star Wars now. I usually make a point of watching movies all the way through with next to no interruption, but I have to say, I had to stop it to send you this. It looks beautiful! It's hard to believe it even exists. I'm glad I put off rewatching the original series until something like this came along. I used to be kind of indifferent to Star Wars, but now I'm really enjoying it and appreciating the craft of the story for the first time--not necessarily BECAUSE of this despecialized edition, just because I've only recently really developed a good taste for adventure sci-fi, so I guess it's just good timing. Anyway, yay this!

So I was finally able to watch this. I don't own a PS3 or blu-ray player so I stuck with the dvd-5 version. Here are some things I picked up on, sorry if they've been covered before:

  • I noticed some tracking issues with the sky on the left hand side during the Eisley road block scene as well as with the wall behind the trooper where the floating droid was erased.
  • The pedestrian phasing between video sources where the Dewback was replaced, though I know that probably can't be helped.

The other two issues I noticed were audio ones. I don't know what was used as the audio source but it seemed as if there was a channel missing or something.

I noticed most when Luke sold his speeder and that stilt alien walked by. In every other audio mix of ANH I've ever heard he always made a weird quackish shout as he walked past but this mix didn't have it all. I also noticed during the trash compactor scene the sound of Chewie banging on the door is missing as well.

Those sound effects weren't in the 35mm and 70mm Dolby Stereo tracks. They first appeared in the Mono mix.

No offers, yet?

I can help you out but it may take me up to 48 hours. I'm currently 750km from home (and my ALIEN blu ray disc).

OK, guys... You ready?

Here is a sneak peak at the preliminary version of the "official" Despecialized Cover art:

Let me know what you think. Oh and you native speakers out there, could you please check the text on the back. I wrote it myself and I'm not quite sure if it all makes sense grammatically and otherwise...

Let me say Harmy that I am a memeber at all the cover sites and I have been for years. I have seen many great custom covers but I have never seen any Star Wars covers that look that original! My god those are awesome!

So original and so cool looking - love the covers!

My only thoughts on the text is on Jedi. Instead of "Zoom in through hyperspace..." I would probably say "Zoom through hyperspace..."

Happy to help!

Well, I just got home from the airport and I'm still up and at 'em so here you go, the 20th Century Fox logo from the ALIEN blu ray (with no further compression):

Lemme know if you have any issues.

Awesome covers, Harmy!

I noticed a few misspellings in this part:

"Just sit back and enjoy the ride uninterrupted by unnecessary additions to these classic movies."

The rest of the text looked good without any misspellings, but some of the sentences were a bit long. I hope you don't mind my recommendations below to shorten then up.

For SW, I recommend this:
"Join Luke Skywalker, Ben Kenobi, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and the two unforgettable droids RD-D2 and C-3PO in this first exciting chapter of the Star Wars Trilogy. Follow our heroes as they race to rescue the beautiful Princess Leia from the evil clutches of Darth Vader and destroy the Galactic Empire's dreaded weapon, the Death Star."

For ESB, I recommend using the following:
"Return to the galaxy far, far away in this exciting new chapter in the Star Wars Trilogy. Rejoin Luke Skywalker on his path to becoming a Jedi Knight, as he travels to the far reaches of space in search of the mighty Jedi Master Yoda."

Here's ROTJ:
"Jump through hyperspace into the final chapter of the Star Wars Trilogy. After first rescuing his friends from the vile gangster Jabba the Hutt, Luke Skywalker must face his destiny to restore freedom to the galaxy in a final epic battle of heroes and villains."

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Ok, I have been watching Star Wars very close looking for anything that shouldn't be there. Well I found something. I don't know what it is called,  I wish I knew how to post a screenshot.

When the Falcon is fleeing the Death Star Han says they are coming up on ships. The next shot of the Falcon as it is flying at the bottom of the the screen these little grey like boxes start to appear. As the frames go on it gets worse.

I don't know if you knew about it or not. I don't even know what it is. Or even if it can be fix. I wonder if it is on the dvds.  I am about to check.
