What I do know now, is this:

There was a Boba Fett action figure released pre-ESB.

My assumption was that:
It was initially made because he "appeared" in A New Hope. The release of the action figure was delayed then because the footage was cut.
Then, presumably when ESB was announced, they started to release the figure, with a little addition to the packaging, saying he was a "new character in Empire Strikes Back".

That's interesting. Where did you find that out? I read he first showed up in the Holiday Special cartoon, but then again, if he was cut out of ANH in 1977, then that would still hold true.

Just watched my clip again. He says exactly what CG Jabba says in the SE, but he has more of an Irish accent than a Scottish one, now that I've taken the time to watch the clip more closely (given my fascination with all things Irish and Scottish, I do tend to mix the two accents up fairly often
