Unfortunately, it seems that any of the official VHSes do not contain the original version of the pilot. The only place to find it seems to be a homemade recording.
However, No Mutant Is An Island's original version was used in some foreign territories, so it is possibly in the UK release of the X-Men Animated Series. According to tv.com, this X-Men DVD has the original version though I have yet to verify this.
