@canofhumdingers: Yeah, you were the first person to spot that glitch after 7 years it's been out there, that's quite cool :-)

Oh and thank you Danny Boy for posting that picture, the glitch is much more visible there. Here's a screenshot from the HD version of that video:

I don't understand. What am I looking at in this screenshot? Is it the bad looking interface? What was the deal regarding the "Space boobs!" comment? I don't see any boobs.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Look at the bottom of the image.  Not to the interface but the actual film.  See that strip of barcode-looking mess?  That's what everyone's looking at.  Not necessarily deal-breaking in itself but proof that these are the same transfers as the '04 DVDs.  As for the boobs... I honestly have no idea.

When is Star Wars coming to Boob-Ray?

Using this pic as inspiration how about on release day we start a twitter thing/rumor/blog thang that says the blu-ray stops playing at the point of the Humdinger glitch...  error are known to cause this kind of thing.

That picture from ROTJ is absolutely shocking. I wonder if they have amped up the stars so people can say "ooooh look, you can see the little stars on the Blu-Ray" when in reality its something thats been artificially amped up and makes the film looks very fake indeed. Looks like they filmed it using video as opposed to film. Very sad.

Who's to say they didn't put the new one through the same "faulty" process. None of us ACTUALLY know."

What a total moron.  The chance of a new transfer having such a fault in the exact same frame is statistically zero.

What is it about one frame? Unless you freeze frame it you can't see it! I am betting a lot films have similar flaws they just don't have as many frame by frame obsessive compulsive eyes on them as the Star Wars films do.

When are people finally gonna get that we're not complaining about the glitch, we're just using it as a proof that it is indeed the 2004 transfer!!!

And I'll go ahead and reiterate the same thing. Maybe if we all post it en masse, it'll be harder to miss.

It's not the glitch we're complaining about. It's that the glitch is indicative that it's the same crappy transfer we got in 2004.

twooffour, nothing about that post makes any sense whatsoever.

Please allow me to translate for you.

twooffour is communicating the possibility that people who have a fondness for the 2004 version of the Special Editions will respond to the 2011 Blu-ray set in much the same way that people who have a fondness for the pre-1997 original trilogy did to the DVD release of those versions.

Oh, I'm sorry.

I'm not very fluent in twooffour-speak.

I think the biggest issue that occurs all the time is that many of the more mature people here are labelled as Star Wars, geek, fan-boy, wackos, that are just obsessed with hating Lucas and Lucasfilm for releasing the movies in a manner than displeases us, at so many other sites or even media articles that reference this site.

While the truth is, many if not most, are simple film afficiandos that demand quality releases of any film, but especially some of the most important works of film art, in this case Star Wars.

When it comes to childish wankers like that guy on Amazon, or other PR bullsh*t artists coming out of Lucasfilm, it's best we don't feed such trolls, and simply call out the poor release from a film fan perspective, not a Star Wars one.

I would simply ignore anyone who does not recognise that what's been discovered as unreputed evidence that the same 2004 master is being used, as they're clearly deluded.  That's like saying the green saber in ANH 2004 DVD was caused by my miscalibrated TV...um on, it was green!

The only exception being that for some crazy reason, they really aren't showing the new Blu-ray in that PR booth thingy, which once more wouldn't surprise me.  However coming to learn that Lucasfilm has no desire to ever release anything they own correctly, I am fully expecting that once this set is released, we'll get our proof.

The problem with this is that what has been found, the "humdinger" is going to be misinterpreted by people.  Hell, it's already being misinterpreted by people who post HERE!  All those fanboys are going to see is, "We found this tiny little defect along the bottom of the screen for one frame, so we're not going to buy it," and they'll continue to label us as impossible to please, even though we've continually expressed exactly why that little frame grab is important.

Are you just trolling, or do you really not get it?  Nobody cares about the glitch.  The glitch is simply being used to identify which transfer is which.  In this case, it proves which transfer the blu-ray release is based on.

I saw some people complaining about quality control (how they missed this frame) earlier, not just that it could be the same transfer.

It is true that the transfer that contains that glitch is indeed worth complaining about, but not because of the glitch!  The glitch is just an identifying mark that proves that the upcoming blu-rays are based on that particular, very poor transfer.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say the "space boobs" he's talking about refer to that image of the TIE fighter in the bottom right corner.

I vote to give can o' my current signature. I'm quite fond of it but I'm willing to make that sacrifice.

Yay or nay?

No one will read this anyway considering the post I'm following.
