WIRED magazines "100 things your kids may never know about"

Great list.  I'll get right on making sure all of my kids know these things... just to hold back the dawn a little longer.

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

It would be funny if it included Jabba not being in ANH originally but I suppose Han shooting first takes precedence.

I'm only 25, but i remember most of these things! But I kind of have a fondness for old things anyway...

Looking through that list, I noticed they put vinyl records on there. No way are those going to be forgotten like some of the other ones, if anything they're going through a resurgence in popularity (the music store down the street is PACKED with them)

EDIT: Also...people actually used Zip Discs? I'm 22 and I barely remember those.

EDIT 2: "35. Recording a song in a studio." Okay, now he's just being an asshole.

I know. I keep mistaking new records for Laserdiscs at a distance. ;)

I did. Thought they were the bee's knees back then. (Never did encounter the "click of death," either; I was fortunate.) Also used a Jaz drive... 1GB cartridges, woo-hoo! Fortunately, I was able to recover all of my files from them before putting the discs, cartridges, and hardware into the "retired" box in the basement.

All of the files fit onto a single DVD-R... with room to spare. And I have flash drives that make their storage look sick by comparison. Technology marches on...

There are 10 types of people in this world: those who understand binary, and those who do not.

We still use Zip discs at work.  Not that I'm proud of that.

If I have kids, I'll never show them the prequels.

Certainly not before they see Episode V.

Wow. We had some disks when I started here that I threw away because we didn't have any readers.

And freaking MiniDiscs. They had me buy those for my media classes, I thought they were awesome. Then I realized that the average MP3 player even then could hold more music and didn't require disk swaps. We did use them to record our radio shows, so theoretically I have a MiniDisc somewhere that has me hosting "Date Night with Drew" on our Bible College Radio Station.
