Rebecca Black - My Moment

Author

Oh... jeez... that was... ambiguous.

The thing is, I've been wondering what she'd be up to next after that first "hit" - she could either improve, or continue her schtick in the face of all the critics and parodists, or... start phoning it in.

I honestly don't know which of those I just saw... kinda all three at once??

The first half seems like she's learned, it's nowhere as ridiculous and obnoxious as Friday, her facial expressions are now almost sufferable... it's more or less just - bland.

But then, towards the second half, she starts doing that annoying grin again, there's that HILARIOUS group dance (oh my god... was that silly), and at the end she's on a giant huge ego trip surrounded by cameras and all...

ah man, just some thoughts I had, I'm probably over-analyzing it all - she's just lame. :D

I hate to say this, but I agree with twooffour on this one.

As a matter of fact, I even commented on her new channel.

Sorry kid, you seem like a really sweet girl, but your music is terrible. I suggest getting a real career. Having stardom at such an early age usually leads to a life of drugs and a ruined childhood. See Lindsay Lohan, Macaulay Culkin, Miley Cyrus, etc. If you gave up on singing now, you could live a normal life, free of your privacy being invaded by paparazzi and tabloids.

Most teen pop stars and groups are forgotten after their fifteen minutes of fame are over. People like NSync and The Backstreet Boys are perfect examples of this.
If you are a Rebbecca Black fan, please don't put any hate comments on my channel. Everyone has a right to opinion and freedom of speech, and that's just how it is.
Thank You.

Rebecca Black is our new common enemy!

I dunno. She's often been interviewed about how she feels when a good chunk of her audience calls her song a parody, she's received some really nasty hate comments and death wishes, and if that doesn't hold her back...

Heh... best comment evar:

apBeryl:
"Where? can I get auto-tune?"

Lololol!

Ah what the hell, left a comment there, too:

"So can I just ask this question, if I may:

Is it me, or did you kinda start "phoning it in" towards the end of "My Moment"?
At first it started like a normal, average pop song, but in the second half, things began to get more and more over-the-top, with the dance group, the camera crew... could that have been a subtle self-parody on your part, or do my eyes, deceive me?

:)"

No one's gonna read/answer that anyway, but I thougth I'd try :D

I found it interesting that the autotune is gone, but so is the weird vocal inflection of "FRY-DAY FRY-DAY."  It sounds heavily processed but in a new way.

I suspect this is the end, as it is less awful but more boring.

Anyway, after I made the comment on Rebecca Black's channel, I got two new comments on mine, from a user named "coednine"

Here's what he/she had to say about my opinions.

Your RB comment was written so seriously, as if you had some clue about what you were talking about. This is not a hate comment, but since you like to inform people, I'll let you know there's nothing wrong with that song or her singing, perhaps outside of your tastes. Odd how you listed Bowie and Meatloaf, Rundgren, Cash who are all basically weaker singers and writers even if they do have some good material. I've run studios for over 25 years and know when something sounds good. But good job listing the Beatles and Pink Floyd, Mac etc. My suspicion is? that your good tastes are partly due to luck and not critical listening skills.
As I look at your page, there is nothing recent in terms of movies, artists etc. You need to get in touch with current events.. later.

Wow.

Although the Meatloaf comment was fair. :p

It was just as autotuned. Every time her voice changed, it was electrical. Can she sing at all?

Well let me rephrase - the typical autotune effect is gone, replaced with a more natural sounding (but still obviously processed) effect.

Has anyone heard her sing live?  I think that would answer your question.

I remember NSync and the Backstreet Boys. They actually had talent, and used their real voices to sing. Their songs may not have been that good, but they could actually call themselves singers.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Question, if I may.  I know very little of this girl other than the rampant criticism (which is most certainly deserved, by the way).  The first song was disposable Auto Tune pop, and I'm assuming by the comments that this second one is as well (I have no intention of listening to it).

Something that came to mind as I was reading this thread was the thought that maybe it isn't just another teen girl attempting to gain her 15 minutes of attention.  Is it possible the whole thing is just a goof?  A sort of Performance Art in the vein of Andy Kaufman or Joaquin Phoenix?

It's not that big of a stretch to ponder it.  She comes up with lyrics that are so moronic that they almost beg people to call her on the gag, then it very quickly goes viral because it's so bad, she then feigns outrage over her mistreatment (more attention) - and then immediately releases a second disposable tune.  The lyrics and stupidity of that first song border on SNL skit. It can't be real.

I'm calling Performance Art on the whole act.

Everyone could be a Troll, too, but I don't think she has to be.

In Germany, we've got a RIDICULOUSLY bad wannabe rapper named "Money Boy", he's got a cult following by now for being so bad he's good, and now gigs around Germany, thanks to the success on the internet (I think).
He's 100 times more ridiculous than Rebecca Black could ever aspire to be, in music, videos AND interviews. It's hard to describe... it's as if a 10 year old had watched one too many commercial gangsta rap videos and tried to imitate them.

And from the looks of it, he seems to be completely serious / unaware.
If you think that's impossible, look up Florence Foster Jenkins.

Well, it's just the same old opinion discussion, isn't it?

Uwe Boll is certainly aware of his hatedom, but he thinks he's great and they all suck.
Thing is, is he "aware" of anything bad in his movies? Or does he think those things all contribute positively?
Is he stupid, or is the consensus against merely him?
If you met him, would you be able to articulate why he's
bad, and what he doesn't see? (That is if you have no fear for your teeth.)
If you couldn't, maybe the films just didn't resonate with you and that's all?

Now I haven't seen any of the Uwe Boll movies, it's just an example.
But that's the question, eh? Who's unaware of what? Because the consensus I got down.

PS: I like how you keep trying to metastize this thing into as many threads as possible. Keep it up, oh mature respectable member with the thread about sensible posting.
This was the last time you got a response.
