I'm glad I had never heard of these...

This takes me back. I still have these books. They were terrible when they were new- I can't imagine how they'd hold up now.
Some cool covers though.
IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!
"[George Lucas] rebooted the franchise in 1997 without telling anyone." -skyjedi2005
"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM
"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.
Everything about this was terrible. Hutt beards, 3-eyed sons of the Emperor, Vader's Glove having magic powers...

Wow, I had forgotten about those. I did like the pictures. Wasn't Zorba Jabba's father? In art class in middle school I made Zorba out of clay (2D). Guess I was really Star Wars deprived.
The blue elephant in the room.
I'm glad I never read these.
VADER!? WHERE THE HELL IS MY MOCHA LATTE? -Palpy on a very bad day.
“George didn’t think there was any future in dead Han toys.”-Harrison Ford

There were a few things I liked about them. I liked the whole racist Emperor's illegitimate alien lovechild idea, though in execution it got a little goofy, I liked the general concept. I kind of wish the idea of the Palpatine disliking aliens, thus their limited presence in the Imperial Forces, had been a concept visited in the PT. I also liked Zorba's dread beard. The subterranean droid filled city of the lost children was silly, but also a cool imaginative space aged fantasy element for a kid's book.
Lando moving on to become the owner of a theme park was a hilariously corny idea, and is still amusing to think about.
I remember reading this as a 7 or 8-year old. I considered them "Episodes 7-12."
^Sadly, so did I at the time.
^Yeah, pretty sure this was my introduction to the EU. Still better then when they decided to pretend to be Warhammer 40K with the Vong and Legacy

This series introduced the word "Moffrences".
So I can't completely hate it.
