Would be nice if they dropped us a note here once in while. Have we been forgotten about?

Is there any way we can get updates without Facebook? I do not have an account and will not get one due to privacy concerns.

Privacy, eh? Well, then you won't be giving your address out to receive a copy so why even bother looking at any footage. ;-)

Some footage is FB exclusive. Some is Superman1978.com and Capedwonder.com exclusive. You'll just have to wait for the websites to post them.

But an update that about 90%, if not more, of the footage has been restored. Once that is completed the sound restoration will begin.

Release date is September 25, 2012... Christopher Reeve's Birthday.

The only version of SG not available on DVD is the 106 min US theatrical release which contains a side shot of SG flying as she's about to fly out of the Phantom Zone into Selena's fortress not seen in any other cut.

Is that the version that was in that big chunky VHS box? That brings back memories. I had that and the ABC version of II from 1988, I can't believe i tossed both of them, duh!

So I take it you guys didn't catch Superman on AMC last year? In May I think it was.

I could be wrong, but after looking at all these clips, I'm pretty sure all of them were in it when they showed it. I'm pretty sure it was in widescreen, too. It ran from 4:30 to 8:00, so if it was the Donner cut, they must've showed a whole hours' worth of commercials.

This topic has been quiet for some time.

Forget "The Avengers", "The Amazing Spiderman", or "The Dark Knight Rises"

This is the Superhero  film event of the year for me!

Amen to this!

And September is still one hell of a wait away.

will it be uploaded to rapidshare cuz i can't afford for them to send the discs to me.

Don't worry. It will be all over the place.

The Pirate Bay, Demonoid, and probably MySpleen.

I'm sure there will be individual download links (like Rapidshare) as well.

i heard on the superman1978.com that they won't be distributing through their site so i guess they'll just post torrent and ddl links when they're ready its only 4 months away! also the other versions of the extended superman the movie and superman II and superman III are pal versions. i burn to dvd+r but i heard if u burn dvd files to a dvd+r they will only play on ur computer not a regular dvd/blu-ray player. i remember this kcop (ch. 13) version shown here in l.a. around the time we moved but i didn't think to record it back then. there's so many movies we recorded on tv that i taped over from the 80s and 90s lol.

no it's NOT dead here is an update from their fb fan page: The RIC is back! Hey, folks, sorry for some delay in updates on the SUPERMAN THE MOVIE RESTORED INTERNATIONAL CUT. Some work has been going on, mainly on the video side. I had stepped back for a while from anything involved with it due to personal goings on, the video editor had also taken a break to tackle some other work schedules. We work on this in our free time whenever possible and try to get as much done. Sometimes you feel like it, sometimes not. It is not fair to work on it if you don't "feel" it at the moment. There comes a time when that's all you do, and there's also that time when we HATE it and want nothing to do with it. But it's coming. We're going to give you updates as we go along. Expect to be completely in the loop as to the goings on. The sound work will resume this week and we''ll be showing you everything as it happens. Stay tuned for more. Feel free to ask any questions on the project in this post.

This preservation should be out next month, but...

I now see that the information page has been removed from the Caped Wonder website! Is this project dead?

Probably moving the release date further down the line.

They won't make Christopher Reeve's birthday release not this year.

I suppose its going to be like it will be done when it is done. Like ESB Revisited.

When people have real lives outside of this stuff i suppose that they are even still plugging away at all is better than nothing.

Warners are not going to restore the footage they have in the vaults and release the Salkind TV cut in widescreen probably ever.  Since they could not even be bothered with a decent restoration of superman 1 for blu ray much less the 70mm 6 track audio in HD, or the 35mm stereo in HD.  No they had the bad new 5.1 in HD.

The theatrical stereo is on the anthology disc in DTS-HD.

As for the 70mm, I can understand why it wasn't included - see msycamore's post here for the problems with it.

Of course you are right about the 35mm being in HD it was the preview discs sent out to reviewers which must have had the 35mm  audio not in HD.

Well at least it made it into the general release as i am sure fans would have wanted a disc swap program without it.

The excuses for the lack of the 70mm don't hold up however as they don't need to recreate that mix so much as track down someone who has a 70mm mag print that is not warped and destroyed.  But Warners being a billion dollar studio certainly could afford it.

Its like the excuse of the 70mm mix of star wars no longer existing and we all know that fans have prints that have held up audiowise if not picture wise.

Yes despite being almost identical with the 35mm stereo just like star wars there is extra bass and oomph found in the 70mm not found in any other version.

Well until some enterprising rich fan has access to a non warped mag print and a way to get the audio off of it, we won't have those audio tracks.

The point I got from the Thau quote was less that the extant 70mm track was damaged, and more that it had been badly made by inexperienced people. The description of the dialogue placement in particular just sounds... strange.

A shame this will not be out in September.  I been eagerly awaiting this for years.

But at least the project is not dead!

Nope, not dead. Was in a flux but it's back on course. I would know, lol
