5 years ago today, I was at work, tired as hell from the night before. It all started at about 10pm. We arrived at the theatre with our pre-orded tickets in-hand. We stood in line. Leafing through the fancy Episode I programme we bought in the lobby. Waiting paitently, hoping to get the best seats in the house. Finally, 11:30pm. The line slowly moves towards the theatre. A few minutes later we are seated and waiting once again. 12:01am. Show time! I think we all remember that feeling!
Approximatly 2hrs later, as we exit the theatre and walk to the car, I was asked, "so, what did you think? Did you like it?" All I could say was, "I'm not sure". I remember asking myself, "was that a good movie? Sure I enjoyed it, but was it a Star Wars movie?"
So there I am. At work. My head full of emotion. Was it dissappointment? Was it just too much to take in with only one viewing? Maybe after I see it again tonight (with my pre-orded tickets) will it make more sense. Did it?
It is now 5 years later. To the day. Now Episode II has come and gone. And it is only a mere 1 year till Episode III. More dissappointment? I'm sure. Is all this really, truely Star Wars. The Star Wars we loved as kids? Maybe it is and we just don't "see it" anymore.
Anyway, I may watch the DVD tonight, or I may not. Happy 5th Menace!
