I'm expecting Focus to rerelease it later in the year to garner Oscar attention.

I can't wait to see what they add in the unrated version. The movie was great in its theatrical form. It can only get better with more.

I liked your recap of Eternal Sunshine, HG. I haven't seen it yet (disappeared from theaters before I had a chance), but I wanted to.

I had no interest is Eternal Sunshine. It is not a role for Jim Carry. He needs a Dumb and Dumber 2. Its a sad fact in cinema that often God Awful movies like Scooby Doo and The Cat in the Hat often make lots of money while masterpieces like The Girl Next Door flop.

It's really too bad that it was not marketed well...

I think it definitely deserves some oscar nominations, at least the one for Best Original Screenplay. It should really get it.

And Jimbo, you obviously haven't seen "Eternal Sunshine". Jim Carrey is really great in that one, and I think it's a good thing when actors play different roles as they usually do, it's more of a challenge. And even if I really liked "The Girl Next Door"n I wouldn't consider it a masterpiece, that's totally exagerated.

Its a total masterpiece. Its perfect in every way. Its one of those rare movies that I wouldn't change.

There is a debate amoung fans of this movie on whether the unrated version will be unrated for a reason or not. Will Elish Cuthbert have a full frontal nude shot in the unrated version. The movie had only partial. I think you can guess what I want in this.

Fox Home Entertainment has officially announced The Girl Next Door which stars Elisha Cuthbert as a former porn star that moves next door to a lusting teenager. Yeah, like that's ever going to happen! The film will be available in seperate rated and unrated editions from the 24th August this year, priced at $27.98 a piece. As for technical specs, you can expect both discs to carry 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen presentations and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. The only extras on the rated edition will include an audio commentary by director Luke Greenfield and a Trivia Track. The unrated edition will carry both of these, in addition to the following features: a Scene Specific Commentary by Emile Hirsch, a Scene Specific Commentary by Elisha Cuthbert, The Eli XXXperience Featurette, "A Look Next Door" Making of Featurette, Gag Reel, 16 Sexy Deleted or Extended Scenes, including original ending with an optional Director's Commentary, Stills Gallery, Girl Next Door Trailer "Dirrty" too racey to show on TV, Upcoming Theatrical Trailers and one easter egg. You can also expect the unrated disc to be 'packed with steamy added scenes'. I'm afraid we don't have the artwork yet, but we hope to bring you that shortly. Stay tuned.

I am glad to see Fox is giving this teen classic the great DVD treatment in deserves. The unrated disc will be a first day buy on my list. How about you

Hopefully all those extras won't come at the expense of video. I want the pixal resolution to be high on this one. I want to see every detail on Cuthberts body. This is shapping up to be a very good release. I am guessing it will find its own cult following on DVD.

Meh. Don't worry about bitrate, jimbo; given that only a widescreen version is going to be on the disc, there'll be lots of room on a dual layer disc for all the goodies.

My guess is that there is nothing different about the cover with the slip sleeve for the unrated version. Just has that on there to tease us perverts. It's the same thing, no doubt.

You can see more skin on her shoulders so it definutly is not just a brown thing over the rated packaging.

Better cover

This disturbs me that Region 2 people get this classic long before America and get a much better cover. Us Americans always get the shaft.
