zombie84: Did you see those screen shots harmy posted on page 97 comparing the v3 DVD set to the new Blu-ray set? It seems like the v3 image looks a little too greenish, whereas the Blu-ray shot looked like the colors were more accurate, more neutral. What do you think?

Like I said, my monitor right now is not very accurate, so it could be just me. If the V3 actually looks green-biased whereas it appears neutral to me, then it makes sense that something that appears to me to be red-biased is actually neutral. I just noticed that there was a difference between them and was wondering if this was an intentional tweak or whatever.

Hmm, I'm not quite sure, I know my monitor is not perfectly calibrated, either. If you could look at those images on a good calibrated monitor when you get a chance, that would help. :)

What does everyone else here think of the color differences in those screen caps?

The Star Wars trilogy. There can be only one.

I'm with you, Dunedain.  I find the V3s lean towards being slightly green, whereas the BDs (based on the recent screen caps and the samples d_j shared awhile back) seem much more natural in their colours.

I've managed to fix the Vader frame, but the Luke one i would need a copy of the previous frame to be able to attempt to do anything with it

EDIT: Sorry, i didn't see that Harmy and yourself have already fixed this frame

I also just checked that Frame from the Wampa cave in ESB and that final frame and the following are both clean in the PAL version of the GOUT

Because, after this, we'll have to wait for either access to a 35mm film scan of the trilogy or Lucas to decide to be reasonable and release a fully restored new transfer of the trilogy, if we want to see Star Wars without the stupid SE stuff in any better quality. =)

I agree, Dunedain.

I still feel that, instead of throwing money away on countless Star Wars-related junk, and the soon-to-be-released Blu Ray box, Lucas might as well throw just that little bit more money out instead, and release a fully restored new transfer of the original, unaltered trilogy.
Whatever that guy keeps doing, it all seems to cost him peanuts anyway.

OK I just fixed(Thanks to Ady and Harmy for help on 1 of them) and rendered a new version of Star Wars, there were 2 frames that bugged the hell out of me, the one with Vader I posted above, and the last frame of the Sand Crawler coming over the dune.

There are quit a few bad frames in Empire though, I will not be doing all of them, but I want to get the really bad ones that I can fix, the 2 bad IVTC frames have already been fixed, most of the bad frames are all in the beginning Hoth scenes up until the battle, then there are hardly any at all, but the saber scene I am not going to fix, in the link above provided by msycamore there is a better frame on the PAL Empire, but only a little better, so I am not going to swap a bad frame for just a little bit better bad frame LOL.

So far I have not seen any on Jedi, except for the one also mentioned in the link msycamore provided, but since I used the PAL Jedi as the source, I do not have to worry about that one.

Like I said, if anyone has any other frames they noticed, please let me know.

Great news, d_j.

Personally, if you could remove the really in-your-face ones, I don't think the others would bother me at all. The one you showed from Star Wars, for example, wouldn't bother me. It already looks great as it is, and let's face it, you're not a magician. You can only do so much with the means you have.

I already immensely appreciate all the hard work you've put into this.

I just did not like ALL that yellow in that last frame with Vader, and the bad IVTC frames in ESB really suck, like I mentioned earlier, if I at least did not try and fix some of the really shitty ones, it would bother me later, especially when watching them, plus I would like to try and have the best GOUT sourced project out there LOL, that is why there is NO AVCHD versions with weird coloring here, that is also why I recruited a very COOL person to do up fancy BD menu's, and the BEAUTIFUL audio options, LOL I can't wait to print up Harmy's menu covers and get these on my shelf! you guys have not seen those yet.

The yellow in Vader's frame would bother me less than the ESB frame below, I guess. Although I did only say less, haha :)

And I agree, I still can't grasp the sheer genius of Harmy's design.
So simple, and yet so effective! :)

Yea, he captured EXACTLY what I was looking for, the menu covers are the ones I will be using for sure!

DAMN! I found about 30 frames I do not like on ESB, well I will try to fix, or at least make better, as many as I can before I get bored of this shit LOL.

If the problems with those frames are similar to the Vader frame you posted before, you can send me some of them as PNG or BMP (and ideally the previous and next frame) and I'll see what I can do :-)

Not sure if there's a little lighting problem when Chewie starts to press the garbage walls, the bottom of the frame is lighter for some reason.

Thank you very much, I will keep you in mind then, I didn't really want to bother anyone because everyone is busy on their own projects LOL.

I'd be happy to help. It took me like 5 minutes to fix the Vader one :-)

This is like the closest thing to fans will get to having the original trilogy in HD on blu-ray. I applaud your efforts, along with that of Harmy and OmegaMattman.

I might not quite understand what you are saying here, but omegadude has absolutely NOTHING to do with this set, he has his own deal going on, but Harmy has been very helpful.

Here is an update on things, the frames in Star wars have been fixed, and it has already been re rendered and encoded, I have found 34 bad frames in Empire that I wanted to fix, and like I have said, most are all in the snow\Hoth scenes, these have now been fixed and I am about to render a new version and encode, so these 2 will be done by tomorrow morning, see that didn't take to long, but I can't wait to watch this new Empire, I HATED all the crap frames, every time you watched one is was like a flash on the screen, and this is my favorite movie of the 3, so I want to make it as right as I can.

So if anyone can look through Jedi and see if there is anything glaring this would be great, I have not found any myself when I skimmed through it.
