I dare you to read #1 on this list, and not look at the OT differently from now on. I dare you all... since we're going off track anyway (which I'm not...)

EDIT: if this is for real, Lucas is a damn genius and fooled us all!

Not to mention this #1, which is even more intriguing!

Even if you don't believe any of it, you have to admit it's an intriguing read. We all know Lucas couldn't come up with that anyway, but it could ease the burden of watching the trilogies if you try to keep in mind that R2 is a secret agent, and Chewie isn't a lapdog =D

nothing eases the burden of watching the prequels, and the OT has never been a problem.....chewie and/or R2 being secret agents changes nothing, not in my mind anyways....the other page was an interesting read though. I much prefered the take on the clone wars to what we were given

Snow flake on Chewie's foot?

LoL ^^

I've also found several snowflakes in ESB that look way too similar for my comfort.

Obviously this needs fixing asap.

screencaps of these "clone snowflakes" coming soon......

Didn't realize it was a Rinzler book. That means top quality! Could even help ESB:R somehow if the final designs are in it.

Sorry to make this off-topic, but could this be the guy that "Tron" got his name from (in TRON:LEGACY)?  I always wondered where they pulled that name from...

Yes. Yes it is. Making of Star Wars was on the coffee table when they were brainstorming character names. Rinzler didn't even know until he was at the movie with his kids and they started chanting his name! LOL

Logically, BEN Kenobi is not a name to hide him from the empire.. but instead is to hide his JEDI name Obi wan, from the jedi hating dwellers of tattooine. remember in ROTS, the emperor makes out that the jedi are evil. (Same reason Droids are disliked in the OT. Tarred with the evil battledroid brush.

The prequels sure had their mistakes, but people seem blind to the genius behind the great parts.

What?

Yeah, I wouldn't call any of that "genius".  More like "retcon", somewhere in between "amazing coincidence" and "happy accident".

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

I'm also wondering why yoda1138 answered a question no one asked.

He read one of the articles I posted from Cracked, which shed new theories on supposed screw ups from George Lucas, not making them so much of a screw up, and making them seem more intentional.

Hi everyone and yes, I know I'm late to the party. Since I heard so much about AD-1 I decided to take a look at the things he has done on YouTube and I'm utterly and deeply impressed.

"Do or do not...There is no try" Well, Adywan did while Lucas only tried. When I saw the things he did, I became uncertain of myself. Didn't I like he Special Editions because of the changes or didn't I like the S.E. because it was such a half-assed job that lacked the most important thing Adywan repeatedly expressed: passion for the material!

Also listened to the radio interview and Adywan came across as an incredibly nice, humorous, modest and common sensical person I for one hope to be able one day to meet in person and buy him a drink or a couple of these.

When I saw the NEW HOPE escape from Tatooine clip I almost fainted: He did take the only (!) shot of the NEW HOPE Star Destroyer (Vader's Devastator) from above (from EMPIRE) and re-inserted it into NEW HOPE, so even the model miniature is correct at this "point in time".

But there are also two items I noticed I wanted to mention:

I don't think there was ever anything wrong with the "first catch of the day" Star Destroyer bridge. It was filmed on the port side section of the Star Destroyer bridge set to create the illusion of a "flat" bridge (none of the model miniatures at this time had protruding bridge balconies) and this is the NEW HOPE model miniature.

I believe in diversity, can imagine different types of Star Destroyer's and bridge layouts (not to forget the Devastator, "my" ship).

The other thing was Needa's shuttle. Some friends of mine in the kitbashing community are currently trying to get to its basic design (angled-out wings) and it's another variation (huzza, finally another imperial OT vessel!) which has now turned into just another Lambda Class shuttle.

I would be most curious how Adywan intends to solve the riddle with the Executor bridge (I have a copy of the original set blueprint, hopefully this one shows up in Rinzler's blueprints). The studio set was used no less than three times to simulate different sections of the Star Destroyer (plus the one mentioned earlier):

1. Forward Bridge with windowed balcony

2. Communication station ("Apology accepted" - instrument panel near port station / catch-of-the-day captain now replaced by bulkhead door)

3. Aft Bridge ("My Lord, we have them" - port windows wall has moved to background as has holopod, angled in position to suggest outer hull at stern section of conning tower).

Just my two cents for what it's worth, AD-1, keep up your great work, mate!

Lucas on the colorization of the THREE STOOGES in 2004: "Maybe just the fact that they're in black and white makes it funny, because their humor is dated. But by putting it in black and white, it puts it in a context where you can appreciate it for what it was.Lucas on film preservation before Congress in 1988: "The public's interest is ultimately dominant over all other interests."

Sorry all, yep. RadiOn explained it for me..

There was more to my comment (above ^^^) , but for some reason i got logged out or the site crashed or something without posting the rest of my comment. I ended up giving up as I wrote quite a lot and well, rather than type it all up again etc.. I went to bed. Sorry about the mysterious sounding waffle.

And now, I cant even remember what the hell the reference was to.So, ignore me.. move along.. ;-)

Aah! Just remembered my reason for saying that about the BEN Kenobi thing..

Someone on cracked.com said something like.. Why the hell would Obi Wan change his name to Ben but keep the surname Kenobi, if he were to hide his identity from the EMPIRE.

Hence I said.. BEN was more likely to hide his first names (which have a Jedi like sounding name.. ie: Obi Wan/ Qui Gon/ Ki Adi Mundi etc.. All very Jedi sounding.)

In the prequels, robots were seen as the Villains (trade federation) When I studied Star Wars in film studies (before the prequels were made) There was a whole "Race" /discrimination topic about why the Droids weren't allowed in the Cantina. (The prequels gave reason for this, small minded folk that remembered the trade federation/distrust of droids)

Also, in ROTS, the Jedi were framed by Palpatine and were outcast. So to be a Jedi living on Tattooiine OBI WAN would have found himself not blending in very well, or even being reported to the Empire. (So his tripple-barrelled-JEDI name changed to Old Ben makes sense.)

I also mentioned Chewie and Ben APPEARED to have met prior to the meet at the bar. Well, its 50/50 either way.

Hope that explains what I said earlier a bit better. More to a response to what someone said on Cracked.com.. But more relevant to what RadiOn was saying.

I got this from Martin Wixted (RIP) as a returned favor (still amazing that West End Games got these great original materials and had no clue what to constructively do with these!) but it's not a great copy. I will show it here, IF Rinzler and the guys from EpicInk decide NOT to publish it in the Blueprints book (I think this particular blueprint is mandatory, but don't want to ruin the chances of others not seeing it just because it got revealed here first, prior to the book's release). I hope we also get to see the complete studio set for the Emperor's Super Star Destroyer bridge they constructed for JEDI.

The studio set is in essence (counter-clockwise): port side (only) of front bridge, stairs, bulkhead door (opposite entrance to Vader's chamber), aft control station (opposite holopod corner).
