I've become embarrassed to call myself a Star Wars fan, so I don't even bother.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Why isn't there a 'Star Wars Fan'?

The blades could be lightsabers and the center could have a picture of Grievous.  It could glow in the dark, half fan - half nightlight.

Anyone seen the new blu of LEGEND? It has both versions on the same disc, but not via branching, I didn't even know that was feasible. But the director's cut is a totally separate source, (an answer print) and looks damn good to me.

It is quite admirable actually, a very, very big improvement on the film. Gives it a darkness and maturity missing from the original.

Isn't that really the European cut of the film that was on Laserdisc overseas years ago? The shorter version with the Tangerine Dream score being the U.S. version of the film. They are both original release versions.

It's actually a print of a 3rd version that predates both of them. (I thought it was interesting that you can get a two-version disc, including serious restoration work on an old print, for 14 bucks.)

I was just so shocked that anyone would ever say that under any circumstance.

Don't take it seriously. At his advanced age, Fink doesn't always know what he's talking about.

Now let's all relax, and have a tall glass of.......CHOP

Okay...now I feel really stupid.

WTF was he talking about, then? :(

Yeah, I love that film.  The note from Ridley Scott that is displayed before the director's cut starts says that the quality is less than optimal, but overall it looks good to me -- a little soft perhaps, but I don't mind that with a film like Legend.  I'm really happy with the new Blu-ray.

So I can give away the old 2 disc DVD then?

I briefly attended Monsterpalooza in Burbank last month, and there were some impressive life size sculptures of Darkness and Meg Mucklebones on display.

Robert Picardo was there for autographs on Saturday, but alas I was there on Sunday. I wonder how many people brought photos of Meg for him to sign? ;)

That's really sad.

I believe you have been mistaken... about a great many things.  These posts are actually the summoning of the spirit of the recently deceased Darth Cockatiels impression of...

I used to have a cockatiel that inexplicably sang the theme tune to Inspector Gadget (and nothing else).

Now let me say some things on here because I want to point some things out. And please stop saying I say the same things over and over again over 200 times. 1st off I like the original theatrical and the special edition versions of the original trilogy but I perfer the special edtions and yes I do like the original theatrical of the OT . 2nd I own many films on both dvd and blu-ray that have different cuts blade runner , superman the movie and superman II , clone encounters of the 3rd kind etc. So I understand fans / people want both versions of the OT. 3rd I understand people / fans want the original theatrical cuts of the OT on blu-ray and yes they should be preserved.  So please don't attack me and post comments I make from other sites. That's all I ask. Be nice and not mean to me.

Would it surprise you if it turns out you (and most people) have never seen the original theatrical version of the OT?

Yes I understand most people have never seen the OT especially young ones who only know of star wars from the clone wars tv series and the prequels. I was born in 83 the year Jedi came out. I grew up with all the star wars films I did not see the films until the vhs release in 1990 and then in the theater in 97 with the SE of  A New Hope and saw each prequel film in the theater after that.
