Yeah, after posting I checked it was stewie's. Anyway, it's amazing how you can build a wall of connected suggestions for an edit using different people's bricks

That screen is an awesome way of visually OTizing the PT!

I know the screen was positioned there to avoid having to manipulate Ewan's arm but it's more at droid/Jawa height than humanoid height and the droid computer interface would rule out the need for a screen for droids.
Actually I put the screen there because of the two little Square Hole spaces that are there.
I dunno why I couldn't post the images in the thread before

Bob,
I just recently learned about all these fan edits of the prequels, and just finished watching my first. There actually seems to be a good movie underneath all that garbage, and your edits really looks AWESOME. (Plus listing your cuts on youtube was one of the funniest things I've seen - all these terrible scenes back to back to back) I have to say that I applaud ALL of the decisions, and the new color schemes are RAD. Love the red lightsabers for GG and Vader - and I really look forward to the finished product.
I doubt that there's enough material in the other prequels to make a movie that's anything more than serviceable, but Reign of the Dark Side not only looks enjoyable, but possibly worthy of the name STAR WARS.
Keep up the great work, and please let me know how I can be updated on the projects completion!
Best,
Tim
Thanks for the very kind words Imposter. It makes it all the more enjoyable to work on something like this after reading comments such as yours. Soon as this is completed. I will be making posts on my Youtube account, at FE.org as well as right here at OT.com.
I also caved in and signed up for a twitter account and I'm thinking about making a second Facebook account dedicated to just this edit. Once those are up and running I will post details here.
A friend of mine was also interested in making me a regular on his blogging site. I would perhaps take sections of the edit and break down the why and how of those sections. It would be a place for me to explain why certain editing choices were made, and also how alot of the FX work was done. I'm really interested in something like this. So that others can maybe watch what I did, how I did it and hopefully have more ideas spawn from that for their edits.
My Episode 3 Edit Reign of the Dark Side
It has been suggested in The Cutter's thread that you should both merge your edits.
I think there are significant differences in approach to make that not necessarily a good idea but perhaps you could trade some aspects of each other's work.
He has some really nice music score editing techniques that could aid your edit and you have really good image manipulation skills which could aid his.
It's worth consideration.
Trying out some different ideas. I'll see how this one pans out.
My Episode 3 Edit Reign of the Dark Side
Cool idea! How long do you hope to have the hood over his head for?
Is that rain out the window?
At first glance i get the feeling that its too dark.
OT-DAWT-COM nieghbour and sometime poster (Remember, Tuesday is Soylent Green day!)
The cross between the hood and darkened chair has an unintentionally funny effect of combining to look like a giant torpedo cowl.
The idea is sound but you would need to build up highlights to define the chair and cowl elements or Palpatine will end up looking something like this :
Looks pretty cool... Wouldn't mind seeing it in motion if you don't mind.
Looks epic, but how would it be possible to have him wear it in the duel?
My Episode 3 Edit Reign of the Dark Side
We're used to waiting, haha! But it's ALWAYS worth it. If you could pull off an entire change of clothing in an action sequence, though, that'd be incredible. :D
Can't wait, Bob! The Force is strong with this one!
Is it possible to slow down the lightsaber fights so they aren't so unrealistically fast?
Nice to see you're back bob... ;)

I concur.
But I'm sure he's been pecking away at the edit regardless of new posts.

Now I can't possibly imagine Bob any other way than this:
Dude, you never cease to surprise. XD
I was a big fan of the 1st version, but this could work, too... Good luck!
Getting deeper
Edit:
Somekind of a spoiler over FE.org.

I just thew this simple poster together.
I was trying to capture the retro style of 1960s promotional posters. If you imagine the movies being shot chronologically, Revenge of the Sith probably would have been made in this era.
The image is quite basic and incomplete, but I'm sure somebody else can take the idea and do something cool with it.
The Emperor's New Hood looks pretty good. If you can do that in motion and with a brighter background I say go for it!
TheoOdo, interesting idea for retro-fying posters! Yours look pretty good, personally the bottom one looks better to my eyes, but what do you think of a basic background? That could go over well.

Yeah, a new background would work well. I was inspired by the simplicity of the posters below, but something more dynamic would match Star Wars better. Do you have anything in mind?
I had thought about having Anakin's shadow elongate into Darth Vader's silhouette, but I didn't have the time to make it.
I just became a member of this forum. having seen the older classic fan edits of Episode 1 & 2 I can´t wait for this one.
When is the release date again?
