It doesn't just look upscaled, but sharpened as well.  Now I want to grab the BD version and re-encode it to DVD.

How in the fucking force ghost did you do that DJ? Dam that's just bad ass.

Now that I've seen this I'm the one who's becoming impatient....Get that guy to hurry up on those menu's lol!

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

Wow just...wow.

Sorry, I didn't read the bit in the thread about the codecs, but I'll get it now. MPC-HC didn't see a vanilla DD5.1 track in there.

That looks so good, great job, dark_jedi! :)

The Star Wars trilogy. There can be only one.

I'm honored to be on the list for this release because we will NEVER see the OT look this good again.

That's no moon, it's a space station, damnit!

I already have the V3, and I thought DJ did a brilliant job on it, one that cannot be topped, and yet, hot dog! DJ outdid himself - UNBELIEVABLE! I want one!

Harmy, do you have the same compared with DJ's V3?

Author

No, I don't have the V3 DVDs, I can't download from torrent and after seeing the samples of project blu, I didn't bother putting in the extra effort and having someone download the V3 for me.

BLU still looks a lot better than v3.
Fantastic work.
The original GOUT looks wasted effort compared to the other two, honestly :)

Good thing I'm all set for BLU then! :)

I have to agree 100%, I just like how this looks playing way better than playing the V3 and letting my player upconvert it, this just seems to look better and play smoother, just all around better, and not to sound like a broken record, but all the friggin audio options in DTS-HD MA and DD ac3 and LPCM, is just to cool to have on 1 disc, and not to mention once again, the SWEET BD menu's! now if I could just get that anxiously anticipated email from my partner I could finally put this set to bed.

OH, and as Harmy already mentioned, he did up a sweet cover set for this project, and it is exactly what I wanted, it has the OT feel, and a retail look, one actually has a bar-code on it, and the alternate has a menu screen on it, very, very, nicely done, hats off to you Harmy!

Absolutely fantastic!  Not only is the sharpness terrific, but I find the colours are perfect (I found the V3's tended toward a greenish hue).

I think this will be the definitive version of the OT for me.  I can't wait to see these!

Will you be releasing Harmy's cover set along the same time when you send out the BLUs, d_j? Or do we just turn to Harmy himself for those? :)

I will be sending you an email with ALL covers once the set is done, you guys will probably get the email with all the covers shortly before your BD's arrive, or same time.

Then the others will get them when the discs are uploaded, I know Harmy wants to show them off now, but I asked him to wait until the set is finished, because the one set has the menu screen, and I want that for a surprise to you all, and I really hope he lets me do all the sharing of the covers, I like to keep the covers with the sets, I have never shared any covers made for my sets by themselves, my covers stay with the sets they are made for, and I really hope I can keep it that way, so the Set will have ABC's V3 artwork redone for the Blu-ray project, complete with disc labels, and then Harmy's 6 cover set 1 with bar-code, and 1 with menu screen.

So there you have it, I hoped I answered your question.

Couldn't have answered it any better :)

Yea, I just hope Harmy reads my comment, I do not mind showing what they look like, but I really hope I can share\upload with the set, and with the set only, I know ABC had no issues with this, he left it all up to me, but he did like seeing them posted in the thread with Imandix, which was cool.

But on a side note, I did get an email from my partner, and it said, I should have the BD menu for Jedi this week! Damn, I can't wait!

Woah, I thought I was done with v3 but damn, it looks like I'll have to wait project blu to be uploaded! Nice job!

Could you post a comparison between the Despecialized Ed. and Project Blu?

Well, here it is but keep in mind that it's not quite a fair comparison because those are two different transfers. What's amazing about this is that project blu, while sourced from a non anamorphic DVD is actually not that far from the actual HD in this shot. There are of course shots where the difference is much bigger but I originally posted a screencap of this one because I wanted to give an example of one of those places where I thought "why do I even bother, this already looks like HD", like I said in one of my previous posts:

It almost looks like one of those comparisons from bluray.com, you know: old Blu-Ray transfer vs. new Blu-Ray transfer :-)

LMAO! Yea, that is a real fair comparison, while Harmy's is sourced from the SE HD broadcasts, mine is sourced from the GOUT DVD, so what exactly is this comparison going to tell you anyways? I am curious to know.

I will actually say that your GOUT upscale look better than the SE HD source. Yes, the HD is technically superior, have higher resolution, less compression etc. but in terms of overall look the Gout upscale wins, it even have more detail in some places where the HD-source is blown out (stormtrooper helmet) but this is only a screen-cap afterall.

Nicely done d_j!

It is very strange how the GOUT can look like such rubbish in many places but then in others actually manages to look pretty acceptable.

The reason the Blu shots look superior to the v3 dvd is because of the superior resizing up to HD resolution.  Although it has to be said that its further colour tweaking provides a definite improvement as well.
