Ugh, I hate animé. As a former animator I can say that it is the laziest style of animation ever (Besides Go!Animate. Grrr.)

Yeah, I went through a phase when I watched some of it. I know a lot of people like it but its not my thing. Especially this. Marvel. An extremely American company. They should just rerun the 90s X-men cartoon. That was the shiz (from what I can remember.)

I don't believe that. At all.

Prove it.

I would. But I'm too lazy. (That's one of the reasons why I'm not a animator anymore.)

I like the pre comic book era and newspaper comics.

I like Raymond's Flash Gordon, Hal Fosters Prince Valiant.

Raymond's Rip Kirby.

Caniff's Terry and the Pirates.

Al Williamson's work on the e.c. comics line and the Flash Gordon comics, as well as his work on Corrigan and Star Wars strips.

I also like the E.C. collaborations between Williamson and Frazetta.

I also like Xenozoic Tales, and anything by Dave Stevens but especially the Rocketeer.

I also like the original Spirit by Will Eisner.

I like Comics as an illustrator's art.

Never could really get into Buck Rogers the style was too cartoony for me.

Though the Frazetta famous funnies covers were way better than anything in those books.

I grew up as a kid on the wolverine mini series by Claremon't and Miller, and on the X-men books.  I loved the Transformers comics, Marvel Star Wars and Indiana Jones, later i collected all the dark horse ones but the last series i read was legacy and not in print.

BloodnoseThePirate: Read through 'The Extremists' arc

Much of Ted McKeever's work is excellent.  The Extremist, Metropol, Junk Culture, Metropol A.D., Industrical Gothic, Meta 4.

I don't care how well written a comic is if the art is bad i won't read it, and the same thing applies to Japanese Manga.

Was just thinking  of how some comics now have photoshopped covers and are drawn on a computer, and have terrible art like the majority of those new star trek comics.

I like the pre comic book era and newspaper comics.

If we're dipping that far back, might I recommend Windsor McCay (from the amount of books they've been reprinting in the last 5 years, this guy must have drawn every moment of every day for 50+ years)

Nell Brinkley's Flapper era work is amazing for other reasons:

I'm almost the exact opposite. I mostly care about is the story. Of course I can appreciate the art but it doesn't make or break the comic for me.

Here are two compilations not to read:

...bad...  is such a shit.

BlueBook Magazine used to have a lot of beautiful art as well.

Then you have the whole pulp fiction mag era which was killed by the comics authority code and the idea that comics were evil or influenced by communists.

This was the death of E.C. Comics as well.

Oh, man!  You're the guy who liked Prince Valiant!  I've been wondering who that was!  Now, if you're also the guy that read Rex Morgan, MD. I can finally understand why they were always in the funny pages and were ALWAYS terrible.

Funny post of the week.  And I don't even care that it's only Monday morning.

Spidey's in some trouble, true believers!

Took a gamble that these would be more appreciated here than the Memorabilia section.

Nice, I used to be a huge spider-man fan, and I guess I still am but I can't figure out who that's supposed to be in the top right corner of the first picture.

Translucent Venom?

Yep. Should have gone for the regular one, though they both have that stupid button on their back. Three to go for my Sinister Sixteen.

I don't know if this goes in Video Games, Last Book Read, or here!  AHHHHHHHHHHHH!

But I just tore through the first 11 issues of Spider-Man 2099.  My 8 year old has been playing Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions which has introduced him to this character.  I wanted to re-read through them to make sure they weren't age inappropriate.

They're actually pretty engaging and hold up over all of the years.  Maybe it's just me, but 1992-1993 seems to be this huge time for comics.  It's overly represented in my personal collection.
