But Moon is good.

Gump is one of those movies I've always gotten the impression that people only say it is good because it is suppose to be good. Like disliking it could only mean you have poor taste or are trying to be a contrarian. Saying Forrest Gump sucks and really meaning it (as opposed to looking for a reaction) seems to be considered semi-blasphemous to a large part of the population. Seems like every time I have expressed dislike for it I have been met with wide eyes and disbelief. If it was really a good movie that people just generally had a tendency to thoroughly enjoy, I don't think the reactions to someone disliking it would be so incredulous.

As good as any film may be, there is always something to dislike about it. If someone believes a movie is so good that it surprises them to hear that anyone could dislike it, then they are clearly viewing it through the state of mind that it is untouchable. I think films like Gone with the Wind, Citizen Kane, and Casablanca suffer from this sort of thing too. While I'd agree that at least two out of those three films are really good, everybody knows that they are all fantastically brilliant films, and even if they sleep through them, they'll be prone to tell you that they thought they were great, because they already "know" they are great before they even watch them (and who are they to disagree).
