I played Assassin's Creed for about 30 minutes (on the 360) and gave up on it. Multiple friends of mine kept telling me to try Assassin's Creed II and when I'd tell them how much I disliked the first one, they'd reassure me that it had been vastly improved. And it has. I've actually really enjoyed playing Assassin's Creed II, it still has some really annoying controls at times, but for the most part you can make your character do what you want.
The only real control complaint I have had is how easy it is to do a wall kick off of a building you are climbing up. It is a pain to be half way up a really tall tower, and then instead of leaping to grab onto a window seal you end up making your character do a wall kick making him turn 180 degrees and plummet into nothing. Not only do you have to start all over on your potentially time consuming climb, but I've died from this a few times as well causing it to waste even more of my time.
I know it is probably an operator problem, but this far into the game it is still giving me fits. No other complaints control wise though, fighting guards and assassinating people is actually a lot of fun.
