I am probably way off here, but I can't help but see this thread as being intended to be a bit of a gloat fest. It isn't like anyone who is actually obese is going to want to admit it to everyone, especially when the OP says he assumes probably 60-70% of us are overweight but makes certain to announce he isn't one of them.
Maybe you're onto something though, perhaps it would be nice to know how many of our fellow forum members are less attractive and/or dumber and/or poorer than us. I propose a series of new threads, one for posting our college GPA or to admit we didn't waste time with college, another one where we post our yearly income, and another one where we can post statistics on how frequently each of us gets laid. This could be fun!
I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm morbidly obese, and have been dealing with my weight all of my life (I just turned 45 last month). A year ago, I topped out the scale at 460 pounds, just before I finally went under the knife and had bariatric surgery. It's nearly a year later, and thanks to the surgery, I've lost about 170 pounds, and the difference is like night and day. More energy, more stamina, better eating habits (which are rigorously enforced now that 80% of my stomach has been removed). My ultimate goal is to get down to around 225 pounds... still overweight, but manageable for me, as I'm realistic enough to know that I'm never going to be a thin person.
