Obesity and overweight factsheet on WHO:

Overweight and obesity are the fifth leading risk for global deaths. At least 2.8 million adults die each year as a result of being overweight or obese. In addition, 44% of the diabetes burden, 23% of the ischaemic heart disease burden and between 7% and 41% of certain cancer burdens are attributable to overweight and obesity.

It causes heart disease & stroke, diabetes, osteoarthritis and cancer.

And according to that page, 60% of obease adults are women, 40% are men. On another WHO page it explains that more men are overweight than women, but more women are obease then men.

Neat list of OECD countries (with a handful of non-oecd countries tacked on to the bottom too):

Statistically speaking, assuming we all come from OECD countries, 50% of ot.com members are overweight and need to go loose some weight!

I can't seem to see an option to do a POLL on this, but if you want, post whether u are overweight, underweight or neither. BMI calculator here that also does body fat. Remember, u can be fat and not look fat. I know someone at work, he's overweight he goes to weight watchers. Yet he looks like he's not overweight at all.

Mine BMI: 22.8, Body fat percent: 19.8%.

Discuss.
