Get thru the funeral day, then sort thru Dad's stuff as the mood and need hits you. My grandmother - my last surviving grandparent - died back in October and it took my dad and two uncles some time to sort thru her stuff, not because of volume but just because of memories and separating them from the practical need for different items to stay or go. Sorting thru their stuff is part of the "closure" phase of the grieving process - don't rush it. Take whatever time you need.
The edit (and the rest of us) will still be there when you're ready to resume.
