OK, I have sent a new group email to all that donated blanks, so this will now be your third email, so check spam filter or something, because it is a lot easier keeping you guys notified of things this way, unless you gave me the wrong email? let me know if you get this one, and I have not sent anything through PM, it will all be email for now until I have anything substantial to report.

minor update, I just tested out ESB and HOLY SHIT the menu on this is damn COOL! just wait till you testers see the Empire recordings menu's, sweet!
However I did find some issues with the pop up, he is correcting them and sending me what should be the Final version tomorrow, he is also hard at work on Jedi already as well, so we are moving along nicely, damn I hope you guys like these as much as I do.
I just ordered up a new Yamaha receiver and Center channel speaker and subwoofer so I can really hear these babies nicely, can't wait for them either.
well that is all for now, later dudes.
*edit - 1 more thing, Star Wars weighed in at 22.5 GB's Empire Strikes Back weighs in at 22.6 GB's.

I had a look last night at the DVD versions. I gotta say I am HUGELY impressed and absolutely grateful to DJ and everyone else involved in this project. Many, many, many thanks guys, I sooooo much appreciate all of your hard work. This looks so much better and the sound is just awesome!
... kinda makes me dislike old Georgy just that little bit more now :/

I agree with you. The V3 is the best version of Star Wars '77 on DVD i have at the moment.
Unless Lucas relents and releases a restored version on whatever format exists at said future time, this is the only star wars i will need to watch.

I think we'd get Star Wars Episodes VII, VIII and IX sooner than we would fully restored Blu's of the OT :)

Hey d_j, how are things going on the menu front? It's been quiet in this thread for a while now. Hope it's getting close....dying to see the finished product.
I'd actually love a 1997 set, and am dling DJ's v3 from the spleen right now. Can't wait for the Blurays!

Agreed as much as i loathe the 1997 special edition the colors and sound were not botched, and return of the jedi did not have Hayden and jar jar like in the 2004 cut.
It would also be nice to have all three cuts on Blu ray.
I would like a fixed or tweaked 2004 with correct colors, the 1997 laserdisc sound mix. The closest thing i can get to that is Adywan's A New Hope Special edition in HD, but he removed Jabba and greedo shooting so it is not a pure preservation.

Ady had also made a ESB SE '97 in HD release. If any effort goes into tackling the '97 SEs by anyone (be it preservation or recreation or anything else), I hope RotJ gets tackled first.

and it will stay quite until I have something tangible to share, and now I do, it looks like the ESB pop up menu has been fixed, I am burning yet another test copy of ESB now and going to watch it all over again just to make sure, if all is good than 2 down, 1 more to go.
1 more thing to note, I may have found a way to make the video look a little bit better, need to do more tests, and it also cut down the lossless avi rendering time by half! but not sure yet if it will be worth doing SW & ESB over since they are done, but I may do Jedi over while waiting.
I just want to emphasize 1 more time that this is a maybe, there is a good chance all will just be left alone, because honestly, there really isn't much more that can be done with this(video wise) but I am going to look just in case.
If 'a little bit better' is negligible, than there's no need, as far as I'm concerned. Of course, I don't speak for the others that sent in blu's.

Thanks for the update d_j. Whether or not you decide to do anything with the video in ANH and ESB, it's good just knowing that you're always keeping an eye out for making this preservation the best it possibly can be.
