I want the theme park of the website, not a website of the Original Trilogy Theme Park and Resort....I think.

What about a theme park of the website of the theme park of the website?

My idea....

Outback Wasteland

Thunderdome could be the centerpiece, with Halls of Justice when you enter, then the Refinery, Bartertown along the way, there could be an Autogyro ride.

So many possibilities.

Seriously? I take it you never went to the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas? I thought they did a brilliant job of simulating a transporter, and that was using 90's technology. The big gust of cold air they hit you with as the lights go black for a second before flashing back on to reveal you are now on board the Enterprise was a nice touch.

That was the best part of Vegas. Such a dumb doky guilty pleasure. Not even much of a Star Trek fan, but that place made me extremely happy inside.

As for holodecks, that would be harder, but would also defeat the purpose. Why create this simulated fantasy world to attempt to make customers feel like they are aboard a Star Trek vessel, then build another simulated fantasy within the simulated fantasy to bring them back out again? If it were really necessary it could be done, but the only way a holodeck would really be cool is if it were real. Going through transporters, flying in shuttles, surviving space battles, and being boarded by the Borg or other alien threats would get my vote over a simulated holodeck every time.

The holodeck is just a cuboid room with a grid and the arch for the door.

You could be taken into a room made of giant screens showing the holodeck background and the arch around the door way and the simulation could begin with the room being gently rotated so the entrance connected with the simulated environment (basically a set) on the other side and the image on the screens could change to match an empty room in the same scenario including the door.

You walk through the door onto the set and have your holodeck adventure.

Eventually you would have to make yourself into another empty room the (the same entrance but now showing a different desk top theme).

The arch would be called and replace the door way of the room you entered and the room would rotate to line up with the ship corridor and as people exited the holodeck walls would return.

It is the closest think we can get to physically being in fantasy locations. It stands to reason most people going to such an attraction would want to be in the Star Trek world for the duration, not in some generic 1950's detective noir or role playing Sherlock Holmes. All the coolest features of a holodeck, being able to see anywhere or do anything you like, would be impossible to simulate. All the things my mind could come up with if someone asked, "What would you do if you had a real holodeck?" Are things that couldn't be done with a simulated one. You have to choose simulated "holodeck programs" that would appeal to a vast number of people, since the ride would require groups going through, and there really isn't much you could have them do in them.

I guess it would be cool if the ride were a simulated tour of a starship, "And here is our holodeck" as it changes settings a few times and the group moves on. But we are still dealing with 2D screens pretending to be an entire holographic settings. A bit lame.

A).I didn't say snip.

B). I didn't say 2D screens were the entire holographic setting (just part of the entrance and the exit and using a rotating room to disorientate the people using it).

C). Walking from a starship corridor or a Starfleet academy hall into a Dixon Hill holonovel or Captain Photon could be quite a giggle.
