In the EU a group of people from Alderaan stay behind to fire the cannon until all the transports are away, then blow it up, if I recall correctly.

I'm sure it can be assumed that something similar is happening here. Just because the big transports are gone doesn't mean that all of the ships are. Han surely isn't the only one with his own ship in the Rebellion.
