Almost sounds like one of those coincidental things like Crichton and the Velociraptor in Jurassic Park. He started writing the book having conceived of a dinosaur like the Raptor but it had not yet been discovered by archaeologists. However, a raptor skeleton was discovered and named and whatever else and it confirmed this whole theory he had developed about this dinosaur. If nothing else, it gave him a name for it. Or did this happen with Spielberg while filming? I'm starting to wonder if Raptors were even in the book. It was one of the two situations. I read this years ago when the movie was first coming out.
